Can't say this is going to be a big or fascinating update...
I've pretty much only worked on storyline content since last week so it hasn't been a lot of variation, but there has been progress and I can say a new boss have been added!
It might also be a good idea to explain/reveal the purpose of those Boss Gem's they drop.
They may serve further uses before the game is fully completed, but so far my intention is to allow players to use those Boss Gem's as an alternative way to complete the CG Scenes gallery.
Playing the game a whooping four times to unlock everything might be overkill for even the most hardcore fan, so consider these Boss Gem's like a currency to buy game edition variations of already unlocked CG Scenes. :3
Aaaaand...I guess that's about it for this time?
Then as always, I'll see you again next Tuesday for your weekly update!
I smell a Naz'Raala dance in the air tonight!
ReplyDeleteAnd and the game ideia i salute you for that masterful play holy hell dose that sound good!
That WOULD be the logical thing to assume, considering where the game is at now, but...is it a correct guess? ;)
DeleteAnd glad you like the idea! :D
Ooo no....don't tell me we have to cross a bridge again, i knew that bastard bridge crossing was up to no good again!
DeleteActually, it's funny you should say that... XD
DeleteWait what... :D
DeleteLOQO.........abridged?! XD HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
DeleteSo does that mean i can get the Gabrielle+Kythe scene in the tavern while Farah still get Magihound dick? Awesome :D
ReplyDeleteI suppose so, yes! x3
Deletesweet! :D
DeleteBut uh...
ReplyDeleteI already play six (now eight with the second beast mode) times through the entire game everytime you release a beta with a new scene in it...
You know people do that right? (ツ)
I asumed the Boss Gems would be used for really high grade crafting later in the game, kinda ultimate weapon stuff.
Now that I know that it is probably not nessecary to do all that, I demand amends by being allowed to ask a really nitpicky and pretty pointless question:
In the Japanese version of the title included ever since the third game started to be made (オパラ女王の伝説) why is Opala's name written as オパラ (Opara) and not オパラ゙ (Opala)?
Cause google translate is crap? Cause google translate is racist? Sooooooo many possibilities.......

DeleteNo from what i can remember Gabe used an intermediate real translator to talk to the eastern artists so i assume Gabe used the translator to make that subtitle to and he just made a mistake.
DeleteAs someone who has been taking Japanese for the past two years, I can tell you that there is no "L" letters in the Japanese alphabet. The closest sound they have are the "R" letters. So whenever a foreign word is translated to Japanese, L's are usually replaced with R's thus "Opala" becomes "Opara".
DeleteThere is no ラ" in the Japanese alphabet.
Delete@Omegalock: There's some truth to that but it ain't flat out correct.
DeleteFor starters there isn't even a "Japanese alphabet", since an alphabet is a set of letters wich represent phonemens. The Japanese writing system on the other hand, consist of the kana one one hand which make up a syllabary instead of an alphabet since each symbol represents a mora, not a phonemen and the kanji on the other which are all logograms.
Now about the Japanese language not having an "L" that is indeed true, but they have no "R" either. They have a sound somewhere in between the two (at least compared to how those letters are pronounced in the English language), which I assume you know given the background you provided.
The corresponding kana are usually romanized as an "R" unless it's clearly indetifiable as a foreign loanword or name that contains an "L" in the original language.
However, it is allowed if unusual to add dakuten (for those reading that don't know Japanese, the two strokes located to the upper right of the kana) to those kana to clearly indicate an "L" sound, just like it is allowed to ad handakuten to the "K" sound kana to clearly indicate an "ng" sound.
You can check out the Wikipedia article on the dakuten, which confirms all this and more:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dakuten#Phonetic_shifts
Granted, this is considered very, very, very pendantic but as you probably can guess from this conversation I can be a very pedantic person. Sorry about that, I already wrote in the first comment that it was pointless to even bring up. (ツ)
One more thing: About your second comment, it is indeed possible to write the kana with a dakuten on a keyboard without resorting to using quotation mark like you did, via unicode entry. It's U+3099 if you want to try it out. Just compare:
ラ" ラ゙
@Beliar: Thanks, that was the main part I was curious about. That and if the possibility to transcribe her name in such a pedantic manner even came up.
@Joe Johnson: The Translation actually seemed too good for Google translate to me, but after reading your post I decided to try it out and what do you know? It indeed came out correct.
Looks like Google translate improved quite a lot since the last time I took a look at it...
You are pedantic lol. But you're right. I was wrong about what I said. I may have took Japanese for two years but I'm still learning and my teacher never explained it exactly the way you did even though she's Japanese. Maybe she was saving it for the third year lol.
DeleteI'm glad if I managed to teach you something useful instead of just annoying you. (^-^)
DeleteI'm used to being annoying with that trait of mine.
I must say I envy you though, I never had any Japanese lessons and can't affort any either.
Well, maybe someday...
No google translate is still cheap crap. It just manages to get it right sometimes lol. Ever try translating a japanese website using google translate? It translates half if you are lucky and gets half of that wrong in most cases at least in my experience lol.
DeleteSince I don't speak japanese myself, I can't say if it's correct or not...I can only hope the one who made the new LoQO logo was accurate.
DeleteAlthough after this was mentioned, I did noticed the last symbol in the japanese sentance seem to be slightly different than it was in LoQO and LoQOII.
Don't worry, I can assure you it's indeed correct in the old logo, it just ain't as pedantic about her name as it could have been. About the last kanji in the new logo: It's so small and extremely stylized that I doubt even a native Japanese person could even read it.
DeleteIf you just handed the Japanese sentence over to an artist who does not know Japanese, there could be indeed mistakes, but since it's unreadable either way...
The last symbol is not Opala's name by the way, due to Japanese sentence structure being different and in some cases donwright inverse to western languages. I'll break it down in case you're curious:
The full sentence is:
オパラ女王の伝説
Romanized it's:
Opala Joō no Densetsu (you probably know that last word from the Mana series)
Translated word for word:
オパラ = Opala/Opara
女王 = Queen (The first kanji means "woman" the second one "King")
の = Possesive particle, shows that the following word belongs to the preceding one.
伝説 = Legend (First Kanji means "report/legend/transmission" second one "opinion/theory/explaination/rumo)
Hope that reassures you. (ツ)
it makes you wonder how many Boss Gem's will be needed to unlock unopened scenes to the question of how much effort to just playing each edition would be?
ReplyDeleteProbably one or two Boss Gem's per scene...
DeleteUnless the game gets a console release, then surely 20 per scene with Boss Gem Packs as microtransactions! ;D
I really appreciate that new mechanic cause I play Loqo like a play any other rpg that gives me choices, I play as good as possible (or at least no dickish). I was so torn in some places, I really want to save Gabrielle because I like her and it's what my character would do.....but I REALLY want to see her get gangbanged by werewuffies at the same time!
ReplyDeleteThat's somewhat interesting to me, since I use such games to totally retreat from how I act in reality and be the biggest and most selfish Jerk I can possibly be. (ツ)
DeleteNote however, that SweGabe said you can unlock variations of already unlocked scenes, not that you can unlock scenes you never saw. Since the Gabrielle scene has no variations, I asume you have to be a Jerk for once...
Begs the question why you try to play good. Just your usual moral resolve carried over from real life or do you actually just enjoy the fantasy of being a good guy more than that of being an amoral jerk?
Well I used the were wiggle scene as an example, I already unlocked it. But consider this, aren't I already escaping into a fantasy where I'm a hero who hangs out with beautiful big breasted women all day and has sex with them? Also I just don't like being a bad guy unless I was horribly wronged and I become the living incarnation of vengeance, but even still any evil action I take could be somewhat justified. But anyway, I just like to play as myself. My character in an rpg or any other game that lets you create a character and make choices, is a representation of me and what I would like to do. So I make the choices that I would make. And call me crazy but if I can help it, I'd rather not see a girl get raped. And I know it's strange considering how the girls are in Loqo but when they obviously don't want sex (even when they end up enjoying) then no matter how hot the scene might be I step in when it's my canon play through.
DeleteBut at any rate, I get no pleasure from being an asshole for no reason, so I'm not going to do it in my playthrough ok?
Sure that's okay. I'm neither condoning or chastising anything here, just being curious and having a conversation.
DeleteAs I said, I don't want to act anything like myself in those kinda games, of course that's because it's consequence free. In more mainstream games where such choices may have more horifying consequences, I try to go for the good route as well.
But for total escapist sexual fantasy, I just like my rapist ways. (ツ)
I still remember the earliest confrontation with Osira in the first game: "Can I join you instead?" was so obviously the moraly wrong choice I just could not resist it.
that is a much welcomed change
ReplyDeleteSo how can i get the latest version?
ReplyDeleteFor LOQO Origin Ep1 i suggest the LOQO wiki.
DeleteAs for the latest Ep 2 beta you get it if you pledge 10 dollars to Gabes patreon to support the game.
Or as Ep2 seems to be nearing it's end(at least it looks that way to me) you could wait a couple months(IE most likely sometime 1st quarter next year) for Ep2 to come out for the public. 1 thing though. If you play Ep1 do NOT make your last save in a cave.(best to do it in camp on the world map I think)if you intend to use your save in Ep2 as some of the objects in caves and towns too I think have been shifted a bit and you might get stuck.
DeleteSo THAT'S what those boss gems are going to be for. Good thing I have a fair stockpile of them now. And here I thought they were just going to be for crafting and whatnot. This is even better! :)
ReplyDeleteHey just a thought but have you thought about using boss gems as ways to buy bonuses for a new game plus? Like maybe a bit of money or materials or weapons or exp stuff like that? (As well as the stuff you usually carry over)
ReplyDeleteHmm...You mean like how Grade is used in the Grade Shop for pretty much any Tales of game? That's an interesting thought, and I know personally, I'd quite like that myself. ^^
DeleteWould it be possible to add stronger monsters new game plus, new bosses or something to that effect. Or would that be too much.
DeleteI imagine that would be a lot of work for something not everybody would want. That said if Gabe's past works are any indication there will probably be at least 1 and possibly more unique bosses in post-game and/or NG+.
