Perhaps the last week of mainly fishing related content!

And now everything is done about the fishing except difficulty modifier with the different poles.
Not to be confused with the base scaling, because that is still finished with each catch having their own stats that'll let the observant players know what they have hooked based on difficulty alone.
I've also cleared the playtesting phase and begun placing the fishing spots across the world.
Different fishes will require different bait you can acquire, with some also native to specific areas, such as only appearing along the shore, in rivers, lakes etc.

I am thinking about changing some things about the UI to include some additional features, but I'll likely save that for later once the mini-game is 100% completed and available across Grandnasia to be played in the next beta, no matter if I change the UI or not.

I believe that covers everything about this week, so I'll be back in the next one!

LOQO Fishing Simulation!

Everything related to gear setup, animations and UI has been finished with the fishing mini-game.
Only thing remaining now is difficulty scaling/modifier and the rewarded catches themselves.
I've also created a new wooden bridge/pier asset that will be replacing the more metallic ones currently in the game, such as the one at Homestead, the paths across the water in Lake Fairlight etc, but the majority of this past week was rounding up the fishing mini-game.
I should hopefully have it all completed by the next Tuesday update.

For now, you'll have different borders depending on the time of day when fishing.
I'm considering letting you customize it too at some point, but that'll be something I'm coming back to later and not something that's on the table right now.

So that's all for today, see you next week!

LOQO Bass Fishing 2024!

Well, not really, but I have been investing a lot of time and effort into this mini-game.
Last week the game was played by simply hitting the action button as the marker swings over the green bar, which is smaller depending on the difficulty of the catch...that was about it.
But since then I have greatly expanded upon it to make it feel better and be more fun, now you'll instead wear out the fish by hitting the opposite side on the D pad/directions against its movement.
If the fish is going towards the right, you hit left etc, with the markings above the meter showing the energy level of the catch, harder ones having more bars, and you can reel it in after it's depleted.

The icons on the bottom shows your equipment, although this won't be the final UI display.
Better fishing poles makes catching easier, the cord currently has no functionality, better lures attract fish faster and cut down on waiting time, the angler gloves are meant to remove the chance for tougher fishes to automatically escape, and the final icon is various baits for different fishes.

The location the screenshot is taking from is merely a testing area for the mechanic.
Where you'll be able to fish yourself will be marked by a sign you can interract with to start the mini-game, which also lets you set up your gear before casting each time.
Currently there are around 20 different species of fish, although I'll probably not go much higher than that to avoid cluttering up the inventory.

That's about it for today, I'll see you again next Tuesday!

Hooters are back on the menu, boys!

Let's begin with a quick health update as I've been able to sleep 7-8 hours every night now since last Tuesday with the various tips I had suggested to me, so hopefully that means the insomnia honeymoon left as the final gift from my previous neighbors is over.

Thus, I'm happily back working in full force again and has added a mechanic I've been meaning to include since pretty much LoQOII, although one I were never able to figure out...until now!
Turning the Tavern Wench Challenge into gameplay made me learn a ton of new tricks, and one of those is what allowed me to include this latest addition to the game that every RPG need, fishing!
A basic mini-game for it is currently fully functional with 168 frames of animation between the various protagonist options and outfits, but it still needs a UI and some more depth to it.

With that update out of the way, I'll see you again next week!
