Legend of Queen Opala: Origin - Emoticon 7

Thuesday update, yo'h!

In the last poll, it was asked who Trading Cards should focus on in the upcoming game, with 1434 votes gathered!

All Females
Won by 78%, being 1131 of the votes.
Only Gabrielle
Second, 12% with 184 of the votes.
Only Farah

Lost by 8%, being 119 of the votes.

How nice of people to be thoughtful enough to let poor Gabrielle share the loads she otherwise had to take all alone, with the other girls. ;)

This week I have a new expression to share, Opala - Normal Expression.
And she sure has been growing up across the games from the carefree Queen we saw in LoQO to a determined young woman who had to reclaim her nation in LoQOII!

As for the progress on LoQO: Origin, I've been working nearly a week straight now on finishing the noble/political town of Brightstone...I was a little worried at first with how long it's taking, but then again, when I released the first beta after nearly 6 months of work, Port Ronod wasn't even fully completed with missing indoor NPC's!
Towns/Villages naturally takes the longest time to complete among all locations, since I'll not only have to build the places, but also add all the looting spots, stores, NPC's and all of their text.

I'm also introducing a new collectable, gone are the Tablet of History since they are no longer serving a purpose and Ancient Pages due to unlocking enemy stats by simply fighting them, and replacing them instead are Dimensional Shards you'll have to collect for Illumi to help restore time and space...and maybe get on her good side at the same time!

However, the next beta might force players to start over yet again...but for a damn good reason!
I came up with a way for the game to track progress in each individual zone without using a ton of different triggers/variations to tax on the engine, the problem is it can't track what you've already done before it's added to the system.

But I think it'll be worth it, since it'll allow you to check if you have 100% in a zone, meaning you've found all treasure chests, Ruby Coins, mined all ore deposits etc. in that location.

So, that's all for this week!

  1. I like Opala, but I can take or leave the pic.
Don't take it the wrong way, and I'm not saying Seth's art is bad, but it's just that I preferred how Opala looked in LOQO I, in the second game she was different look but in a good way. I don't really know, just Farah and Osira have a very defined look and to me Opala tends to be open for interpretation.

In a way I'm glad that we will have to reset for the next beta, I have to confess I have been so busy that I haven't even played the second beta yet.

    1. I also prefered all three of them in LoQO I. Though I have to say this along with Osira definitely takes the second place out of the three games.

Also, tracking progress is a good thing to have in a game. This is awesome!

  2. Wow, that's helluva great news! Tracker of progress between locations is soo desirable its definitely worth all the restarts!
Btw now that "all girls trade cards" option won, will all future cards still gonna be 'canon' as previous ones were?

    1. Yeah, I could easily tell Seth to correct the lip color...everything else would make sense with a more mature style, it's not much, but a year has passed since LoQOII, a year of war. x3

    2. Don't really see what the problem is. Opala was in the mood for some blue lipstick.

  4. I like it. It looks like Opala's style but matured. The eyes remind me of Laquidia a touch, so maybe the good queen has grown a bit of a man streak. As an aside, have any of the minor details (Seth's fate, Kai's wife) been decided yet, or will it somehow be left up to the player?

    1. Since saves can't be imported between the games, there is no way for it to tell what you decided...I guess the game could start out with asking questions for what you picked before, but that would be confusing to the new players. x3

So I think I'll just do as I did LoQO > LoQOII, pick one "true" path of events.

    2. You could always leave it up the the blog here, using the polls. Might be a nice way top get your audience more involved.

  5. Good god, Opala looks gorgeous. I love how her character developed from the carefree ruler she was in I to the caring love interest(?) she was in II, and now I can't wait to see what she's like in this game.

If her makeup is any indication of her character, I'll go ahead and imagine she's become wise and mature as a Queen, which makes her even more attractive.

As for the Poll, I hope the focus of Gabrielle doesn't shift too much away from her, haha. It was fun to look in every corner for her trading cards. It made battle so much more worth it. In addition to that, I thought the last card "Next Episode..." was a good teaser, and it'd be a shame to lose that.

Speaking of Gabrielle, her emoticon might be next... maybe?

And now you're making me unsure...but I thought I posted Gabrielle's emoticon ages ago! xD

    2. I agree with this. I personally love the look of the characters in this style.

I'm also biased in preferring Gabrielle in a card set. I also really love the collection aspect of hunting down those cards. It's rewarding finding hidden things like that and getting to see a crazy scene too.

  6. I love the evolved, maturing Opala. I think its great to show her having grown and changed from the last two games, and now coming into her own as Queen.

Let's hope she's also "grown" in the same way as her mother.(we should all be so lucky)

    Kudos to you Gabe

  7. I am so freaking happy to hear about the ability to track completion in the area. When you said that you'd look into options after my comment on a previous post I didn't expect so much so soon. I'm so glad I kicked in a decent amount for this game!

    1. Hehe, yeah, now I only have to deal with the issue of what exactly should be tracked or not... x3

  8. I think I like the new Opala. She looks kid of Anime-ish and I like that. With the new progress you made do you think me might be close to seeing a new beta? Like before the holidays maybe? Cause that would be awesome!

  10. All of it sounds super, lots of good ideas.
In the political town will there be a sort of chose a faction quest?
Also Opala's expression is wonderful the best yet.

    1. I think that would be a little too much branching, so early in the game... ;P

  11. When you say start over, do you mean fresh save or ng plus? I'm guessing the first, but just wanna make sure.

  12. I very much like Seth's style and the art upgrade is definitely something I'll never stop praising. However, and take this as a humble opinion, the makeup choice is what might turn this portrait into a leave or take for some. Let me elaborate as to why.

In previous installmentes, Opala's makeup -sans the eyes- has been mostly simplistic. This plays well because of two reasons: it allowed Opala's naturally beautiful features to add more focus into the character's exhuding eroticism, and because such simple makeup also allowed us to easily remember her face and thus when imagining the sex scenes, we could actually very vividly imagine it changing, contorting, smiling, though that may be just me but it's a detail I'd like to put out there.

Perhaps that's what it all boils down to: For a "natural slut" such as Opala, simple works better.

If you do decide to carry on with the makeover then of course it isn't exactly a bad thing. It's just gonna take a bit of time getting used to full makeup Opala. I guess it's a "Superman Classic vs New 52 Superman" kind of deal.

That being said, I still think Gabrielle should get more sparrow scenes where she actually enjoys what she does. There's a saying that goes, Happy Ahegao is Best Ahegao. Was that kind of creepy? Maybe. I don't know, she's hot as hell.

  15. hi gabe christmas about to come
Why dont you add some content about christmas
maybe something like christmas town where hero can get a job from santa or kick santa ass and take over christmas town then have some fun with mrs santa
and rather than using pic and text for scene ( especially h scene ) why dont you using swf animation like meet n fuck series it will make the scene more interactive and more fun

    1. Not really fitting if Farah and Opala visit a town based on a holiday that is centered around a man that won't be born for another 2,000 in game years or so.

    2. I kinda like MNF, they had Farah in one actually. Magic Book one.

The early ones with the stolen art were crap. The latest ones with Zelda and the News Reporter series are good. They are made by the ones made by like the one good artist.

  16. Hey Gabe, I'm kinda interesting in making a pledge for my own scene in episode II. How was it working with other people in making those scenes? Are the scenes illustrated and voiced?

    1. There is still some time before I start crowdfunding Episode II, so you'll have to get in line and fight the others who wish to get one too. x3
The paid scenes are just like the other scenes, nothing less, nothing more. :)
