Legend of Queen Opala: Origin - Update

Tuesday update, right on the date!
Support me and production of the LoQO games at - Patreon

So this is going to be a very light update since basically the only thing I've been working on this past week with the game is the story, and that can't really be described in great detail without spoiling anything... x3

But the last full scene for episode 1 has been added, and I took time on that so people can get a hint on how long these things tend to take, since it's easy to guess...all in all, that one was three days of work, 14 hours in total.

Pretty much only around three "cutscenes" remain for the game, along with two mini-scenes, then I'll devote the remaining time on adding additional content before the release, such as sidequests!

Sadly, that's all for this week!

  1. So would you say the game is "cuming" along nicely? Eh?
    .......
    Ugh /facepalm

    1. Okay, one more like that and you're OUTTA HERE!
*Not really, I like puns xD

  2. Story is good, and I can guess that writing the dialouge can be frustrating sometimes.

    1. Yeah, you aren't exactly following a script, but creating dialogue/description on the spot, even if you know where the scene is heading - and you rarely go with exactly what you come up with the first time, but goes back and finely tune it a few times.

  3. THREE DAYS? On ONE scene? Ok, newfound respect on top of the already near limitless respect I have for you now. I was wondering how if the story was almost done how could it take so long especially if they were cutscenes but I get it now.

    1. Totally, its very easy to think you just need to sit down an afternoon and have it all done in a few hours...NOPE, then again, the Highland Inn scene took a whole week to write, and that was without issues too. xD

  4. How could the Highland Inn scene take a whole week? D:

Also, wth happened to your patreon? It's under 3800 now. :'(

    1. Because it was very complex, not to write, but to code, unlike most scenes which has 2-4 different ways to play out, the Highland Inn scene has 12. xD

A monthly $200 was reduced to $20, which is understandible. x3

  5. Nice, short and sweet.
Is there an exact date for Episode 1 set now?

    1. Still too early to say, and I don't want to lock myself to a date.
      So it's still a late February/March release.

  6. Hi, thanks for the update Gabe :D

I was wondering something about Game Maker games.

I know how to put the games in full screen, but does anyone know how to change the resolution of the window?

    1. I don't think that is possible, it's simply locked to it...it would be like trying to achieve HD output from a SD TV. x3

    2. You should really get some sleep, or is being a nightowl good for production? :D

    3. Being a nightowl is the only way to get a little "me" time. xD

    4. You can hit Alt+Enter and the game will swith into fullscreen mode. I don't really see the point though, since the game wasn't made for HD. So every pixel will only get bigger with no detail being added. The only real advantage I can see is that unlocked pictures in the gallery will be bigger, since they do scale accordingly. Looking at them in the tiny window is kind of a waste ;-)

@ Gabriel: When can we expect the next beta?

    5. I think it's still a few weeks away, I'm afraid. <:3

  7. Gabe, have you checked out Roundscape Adorevia on Patreon? It's an adult game too and they use rpg maker I think. It's really weird playing that game after playing LoQO because a lot of the character models and music are the same. In that game I'll walk into an inn and they start playing the LoQO Origin launcher music lol

    1. Haven't played it, but I think they use RPG Maker VX. :)

  8. Do you watch the Melodifestivalen?
(It's our contest to select our song for Eurovision)
And if you did was there anyone you liked?

    1. Apparently...not. XD
      When was that, this year?

    2. I meant the last one. There haven't been one yet this year!
But who cares at this point. ;(

    3. I still watch Eurovision every year, but Melodifestival has gotten really bad over the years...and the best song never wins, only the most popular one. xD

    4. That is true part 2 is this saturday and the host are better this time one of them is a comedian host like Lok so it's ok this time they changed the formula complletly 7 on each and 12 in the final to me it sounds stupid as hell. But I agree mostly about the winner Loreen deserved it but many others NO WAY. I usally watch it with my family and complain about it it's great fun.

  9. So I take it "rare"monsters won't be making a reappearance correct? Also asuming RaTiki's side gig will be a stealth mission; either liberating neifu pets, or infiltrating howling moon strongholds or something. Last question, will there be a way to deal with the feral dogs in Colussia by the end of episode 1?

    1. It doesn't look like it so far, but I could always change my mind into later episodes. ^^

Mentioning what sidestories Ra'Tiki, or anyone, will have, would kinda be a spoiler...wouldn't it? ;) But yeah, you'll be able to deal with the stray dogs in Colussia as soon as I have that coded!

    2. It probably is spoilers, but baseless speculations is all I have. At least until you give me more booty to plunder. ;p

    3. Well there are those of us (such as myself) who don't mind spoilers in certain situations. I mean if they want to know, it may not necessarily be a spoiler. Pleasant surprises are always welcome though and I can't speak for everyone. So Gabe, just do what I do. If you say something you feel is spoilerish just take a moment to type
      !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And that should warn people to stay away :)

    4. Well I guess I can at least say I have, as of right now, two sidestories for Ra'Tiki in mind, one for teen Farah and one for Gabrielle...okay, perhaps two for Gabrielle. ;)
