Legend of Queen Opala: Origin - Update

Tuesday update, c-c-c-combo!

Support me and production of the LoQO games at - Patreon

Well, we're entering a light news period for a while now as a lot of work I'll be doing these days involves creating new locations for the game as episode II will open up another 1/3 of the Beldorian worldmap.

It might surprise some people but each individual map actually takes a pretty long time to make.
Depending on size, it varies between 2-4 hours since you very rarely do everything perfect on your first try or is satisfied with the first take you make on a map.
But this is nothing new, it's been like that since the first LoQO game, so no worries! x3
So, since last week, I've changed all cavern locations to be compatible with the new lantern effect and I'm nearly done constructing the second part to the worldmap where most of episode II will take place.

I've also finished the interiors of the Imperial Manor where the High Lord Gathering will be held and introduce you to three more romanceable females...basically at the same time!

And with that, the update is over! See you next week!

  1. I don't mean to be picky, but is there a due date on the special Offbeatr editions of episode 1 yet?

    1. There is only one thing still missing, and that's the pixel sprite variation for Farah's special costume.
As soon as that is done and I have it added to the game, the Offbeatr editions should be ready to go! :)

    2. Good to know.
Personally I'm actually enjoying having to wait, as it's giving me the time I need to play all game I have on back log.

  2. Three more romanceable females, huh, well i'm going to take a stab in the dark and say the three females are Opala, Osira and Naluna(maybe)!?

    1. One of them is a correct guess. ;)
Mind you, I meant for the beginning of the episode and not the whole thing combined!

    2. A got it. Well then i guess Mhu'Tiki would have been a better guess, o im sorry miss Mhu'Tiki of course. But hey in a way i'm glad i didn't guess little bit of mystery is always fun!

    3. Hmm...
Three females introduced at the same time = foursome?
Nah, SweGabe said just introduced, not ready for action.

Still, since the story is headed for the Impereal Manor and there's been talk about a certain rare species being sighted there in the game, one is a rather easy guess.

Second one... I'd assume someone who made a grand entrence at the end of episode I and it was nice to see her back on top after all the humiliation she had to endure during the second game.

But the third one is hard. I wonder if Layla countrs already as "introduced" but since has no direct interaction with the group yet, she's kind of a possibility.

    1. I agree with this, I understand you don't wanna tell us HOW to find it, but it would be nice to know if it's unlockable at all or if we are just wasting time combing through the game...

      Delete
    2. As mentioned, one single thumbnail/scene in the gallery can't be unlocked.

    3. Sorry, I must've missed that.
I only started paying attention to the comments again after reaching the end of episode I to avoid spoilers. Now we all can put our feet up and relax till the next release, thanks Gabe. (^-^)d

      ... ... ...

On second thought, I'd rather not put my feet up and finally finish the second game 100%. (._. )
      *starts playing*

  4. Gabe i think episode 2 must be hotter than episode 1 right?
but don't forget pirate balrana and her daughter her mom is so hot

  5. Great news Gabe :D !!!
Hope you keep up the good work while also maintaining a good private life (well studies will start again back at our IT-college so yeah kinda feel you right now when talking about programming mapping and stuff -.-)
And I'm also back with questions (I have potential to be a quizmaster lol) although it's just one for now with some follow-up questions:
What takes longer ? mapping adding enemies and stuff or maybe the story as an overall thing (implementing elements that come out of your imagination etc. ?
And also do you have the story finished beforehand, meaning that you actually know how the story will end which routes there will be etc. or do you come up with further story bits as time progresses once you have drawn inspiration from recent events movies and so on ?

    1. Hmm...I think making towns is the hardest part, because not only do you have to set a path for all NPC's to walk, but you also have to think up something for each of them to say.
At least monsters don't have that issue, you just wack them. x)

And I have a bunch of plot points already planned out in advance, but what happens between them is usually created as I go along.
So in that sense, I'd like to think I create stories much more like a book, rather than a movie.

  6. Hopefully one of those 3 is Layla! :D

Looking forward to Episode 2 but also bummed its probs a year away. D:

  7. Just finished Episode I for the first time. I saw that coming, though admittedly mostly because having him alive would've been *waaaaaay* too easy.

On the whole, b.s. grinding for stupid bloody Golden Bladebeetles aside, this chapter was great, representing a significant improvement over its predecessor, which represented a significant improvement over the first one. There's plenty to do, even if a lot of it is kinda grindy, the story's suspenseful and dramatic *before* the big second act twist, and you've done a great job of adding in plenty of sexy-sexy at just the right pace. The minigames for various party members in particular were a nice touch. And I'm already excited rather than frustrated at the idea of experimenting with different choices, since you helpfully made variations possible even under the broader "hero/renegade" umbrella.

Really, I would say this episode needed only a few things to be just about perfect for a first release: first, moar Beatrix, who barely gets a few cameos, second, less grind overall, since some of those bosses were kinda tough even when I broke out the editor for extra dosh and strength boosts, and third, as I'm sure you're tired of my saying, a lizardfolk option for the beastman campaign.

Yes, I know I'll never get the third one, because all those art assets would be expensive and time-consuming and I'm apparently in a tiny niche anyway, but daggome it! Lizardfolk! They've always been way up there on my list of criminally underrepresented fantasy races that I really like.

    1. Oh, almost forgot! The implementation of the Orb of Restoration here was nothing short of amazing, and I can't praise it enough.

    2. I'm a bit weirded out by all these "too grindy/bosses too though" comments.
Am I the only one who considers it disapointing if you can just rush through an RGP without seeing the Game Over screen once?

I mean, thats what legendary hunting and the like is for. If it really would just be random mob grinding, it'd be far more annoying.

Yes, the sudden difficulty spike in the second game was a bit harsh but I see nothing of that here and it's corrected by now.

I'm a bit shocked you flat out resorted to save editing as well. I'd never even consider that. (._. )

      Delete
    3. You gotta grind thirty bloody mobs just to get *one* legendary. I got three before I gave up and save edited.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying that there's a point at which the combat stops being gameplay I'm doing for fun and starts being a time and effort tax I begrudgingly pay to get to the next bit of story.

      Delete
    4. No, you're not the only one!

    5. That's how you make yourself noticed, actually tell me what's good too instead of just describing everything wrong with the game and/or what can be made better. XD

      Delete
    6. ...Didn't I do that? I... I *tried* to do that!

Aw well. I think you were talking to me. Probably. *sigh*

  8. I think Layla the mare is the character I am most looking forward to meeting and romancing. Followed by Beatrix. Still, Gabe I can't believe you actually created a female anthro horse that I could be attracted to. I thought I was screwed up enough already with my tastes but you have made me fall further down the rabbit hole with this character. >_<

Also I really like all your new ideas about the game and what you've done so far with episode 1. One think I'd like to see in future betas is more chances to talk to companions in the camp area. I guess it is harder since you can access the camp whenever you want instead of loqo 2 where you can have a new conversation with a party member at each new tavern. Maybe everytime we unlock 1 or 2 locations we unlock a conversation? Or maybe everytime we finish a main story quest that takes us to a new location?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Are you telling me that Disney never got you hot for a "furry" before? xD

And more conversations will automatically be unlocked as you progress through the game, Farah and Gabrielle both could use one more for episode 1 while Ra'Tiki has enough, considering you get her so late. ^^

      Delete
    2. Not really, I can't think of many female furries. I mean I guess there was Minney....0_0

Well I was always more of a loony tunes fans. They didn't have anybody except for Lola bunny from space jam.......>_< fuck.

    3. By the way Gabe. I've been thinking about something. With the relationship between young Farah and the protagonist, do you think they would be the type to sleep in the same bed? Because they already seem a lot closer than the royal family has been to Jake or Kai in the past, at least not until the end of the games when they can get married. And Young Farah's personality makes it seem like it would be possible for them to be like that. And I'd like to think they or any pairing that people make in the Loqo universe could be mushy and lovey dovey like that. But I'm curious if you could picture your characters like that.

      Delete
    4. Totally, if you're doing a good/heroic playthrough and is flirting with teen Farah, I could easily imagine them sharing bed together after the "magical" night in the tent. xD

  9. New women are cool and all but I'm definitely thirsty for more Ra'Tiki content.

  10. hi i have a question how do i review the sex scenes in the legend of queen opala 2? thank you

    1. i found the Art Gallary in my item but it only contains the scenes pictures. Is there anyway i can review the sex scenes with the picture and full text? These sex scenes are so hot! I just want to review them everyday. Please help me!

      Delete
    2. There is no way to get the text along with the scene. You'll have to use the Orb of Restoration and play through the game and reach the scene again to view the text. Sorry.

      Delete
    3. Well, since eventually there was a way to view the full scenes (minus the voice acting) again in the previous games, it's pretty sure to say it'll get added in a later episode.

    4. I think he was referring to LoQOII...aaand I don't recall how, think it was an unlockable feature you could purchase from the pimping mini-game in Grand Aideen. x3

  11. Just finished playing, and now I don't know what to do with my life until episode 2. Most of them are awesome, but the downsides are, for me it's kinda easy, and short, and the sex scenes wasn't so hardcore. Didn't mean to complain there. I know you've put a lot of work in this. And also, for western art, I prefer the artist from LOQO2. Not that I hate sparrow, it's just my personal preference. I'm looking forward to episode 2, and I hope it will be more hardcore, as hardcore as Opala got gang-raped by three minotaurs in LOQO2.
By the way, I'm an artist too, but I'm still learning here and there tho. I would love to contribute for your next installment. An illustration or something else.

    2. Nop it was Rosselito for the western side, Sparrow did the trading cards in LOQO 2.

  12. so glad to see things are going well so far! now i asked earlier but no one responded so ill ask again here but Is it possible to get a new outfit for ra tiki yet? I found 2 things of fabric and I need 3 if she is like farah and gabe in that regard. Also are there any scenes between ra tiki and the mc or gabe and the mc? Or those still waiting for us in a later episode. And last question does ng+ carry over affection or does it start over at the default?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There is no outfit for RaTiki and no scenes with RaTiki or Gabrielle in ep1, but like RaTiki said: "i'm sure it's only a matter of time before it happens"

      Delete
    2. But there are two scenes with Gabrielle?
      Just not with the protagonist....

      Delete
    3. And he asked if there is any scene with Gabrielle and theMc(main character), there aren't.

      Delete
    4. Sorry, I was in a hurry when I answered and seem to have skipped a few lines.

Anyway, his affection question went unanswered so:
Currently, only Beatrix' ans Adult Farah's affaction is carried over but SweGabe said that's a bug and will be removed, so the real answer is no.

      Delete
    5. No worries, i completely missed that last question to.

      Delete
    6. thanks for all the replies it really helps. and good to know im not missing an outfit or scenes for the MC (at least not for those two) and cannot wait for the bug to be removed i plan to play quite a bit and will be nice to carry it over

      Delete
    7. You missunderstood me. The fact that the affection carries over IS the bug and that will be removed. All affection will reset with another NG plus in the revised version.

      Delete
    8. Oh whoops read it wrong lol. Well that sucks. Time to grind affection while I can I guess though can you increase beatrix or laquadias affection? I want to know even if I dont grind it up cause I've never found a way to increase them for either.

    1. That's because that's as far as you can go in Episode I. You have to wait for the next release to continue.
You can always check back at Illumi's if you stuck and ask her what to do though.
