Legend of Queen Opala: Origin - Update

This has been a full week for sure, with plenty of things going on!

For one, I'm currently holding a casting audition lasting until next month to give pretty much all of the female characters voices, and it's going very good so far with a lot of really promising talents!
This has been a constant problem in the past with several VA's just up and vanishing, leaving me no other choise but to re-cast them...but that is also one of the gambles with adding voices early on in a project when several years still remain, you have no guarentees.

Meanwhile, another location for episode III is almost done!
And teen Farah is finished for repeatable "romance" moments in the tent, eh eeeeh!?
With the "Demo Fap Reel's" I've had arranged, it's possible I might focus on Laquadia next, Masquerade, Naz'Raala, or perhaps even Osira!
Although it will most likely end up being Laquadia or Naz'Raala, the repeatable romances makes more sense if they are done after having a CG Scene moment with them.
Like, say the CG Scene between the protagonist and a woman is their "introduction" and following scenes, may it be CG or pixel sprite animation, are simply follow-ups to them. :3

And let's end this week on a high note with promoting some more animations!
Below is a screenshot preview of a voiced one with Osira and a minion, so click here if you want to support the artist, although be warned it may be behind a paywall since adult content on Patreon isn't allowed to be displayed unrestricted.

See you again next Tuesday!

  1. I'm a bit confused as to how a repeatable scene with Laquadia would work at this part in the story right now...?

Or do you think by the time you're finished with her animation, she'll be with the party, either as a reluctant ally or a prisoner?

    2. The anticipation is killing me!

I'd really hope we'll be able to finally interact with her again after all that time in the prison because I'd love to be able make her hate the protagnist even more. Unlike most females in the series, Laquadia is just more fun when she's angry. (`v´)

    3. Yeah Im also really curious how she will end up with the party (at least as a willing member)
Maybe something concerning Snaky McSnakefaces terms of service, they dont seem to be that good
As you said shes fun when shes angry, but I also really would love to lift some of her grouchiness to see her in neutral mood (or maybe even good mood)towards the MC at least once xD

    4. My problem with that is that we already have the seductive-villainess-who-can-be-charmed thing fairly covered by Osira. If Laquadia ends up the same, I think the two will end up too similar. That's why I'd prefer her to stay contemptous.

Also, in universe there's the thing that despite her brother seemingly not really caring and using her as a tool she clearly has only eyes for him.

Since Crayden is a villain and the male ones have a tendency to end up dead in this series, the two obvious outcomes would be Laquadia losing the only person she ever cared for and swearing eternal revange on hatred, or her realizing what a jerk her brother is, particularly in respect to the Farsyne subplot, and siding with the protagonist.

I'd really prefer the former. But who knows, maybe SweGabe takes a third option and really surprises us. Like Snaky McSnakefaces will end up using her as a vessel and she'll end up as a sexy lamia or something. With tentacles.

      Snake cloaka!\(♥ヮ♥\)

    5. Here is the thing I like about Laquadia that osira lacks. She knows the protagonist. They have a history together. I remember in episode 1 about Laquadia complaining about Kythe pissing on her carpets while crayden helped raise the main character. I really like how Laquadia gets angry and annoyed by the protagonist like he were an obnoxious little brother. But at the same time I don't think she should hate the protagonist and can have a chance at some redemption. Well redemption is probably going to far. But I'm okay with her siding with the good guys, or being forced to serve the good guys for some reason. She can be the girl who talks so much shit but at the end of the day has to follow our lead. And that keeps her different From Osira who does Bad things and likes it but could be good also and believes she's justified.

    6. Quite good character profiling there, Omegalock. I actually completely forgot just how far back the protagonist's relationship with the siblings goes. Probably it's never been brought up much since Craydon raising him somwhat is only ever brought up once and Laquadia's relationship with him is not at all sibling like, since he flat out stated he's eyeing her ever since she first arrived.

I wouldn't mind Laquadia lending a hand eventually, either by being forced to or by that being simply the last option left to her. Some points where they differ though: Unlike Osira, she was never the brains of the operation, it's obvious Crayden calls all the shots, as shown by her rather clumsy handling of Osira's blackmailing. Osira on the other hand is a decent schemer that got out-gambited in the second game.
And one more thing: While Osira has done some pretty deporable things, she never leaped over the moral-event-horizon like Laquadia did. Osira's grudges and revenge thirst mostly concerns people she think wronged her. Laquadia on the other hand activly traveld to the prison just to enjoy the misery of defenseless people who've seen their families torn apart and their daughters shipped of to horrible fates. It's obvious that Osira is the far lesser moraliy deplorable one from what we know so far.

    7. Of course Osira is better than Laquadia morally. Which is why Laquadia turning good and having a chance at redemption is a little far fetched unless it's done right. But I can still see Laquadia being part of the group somehow, eventually.

    9. Awwww, yay! \(°ヮ°\)

And I'm sure we're all happy to make you smile. (^-^)

@Omegalock: Well her being part of the group seems inevitable with what Swegabe teased and I never said I was against that. I'm just against her enjoying becoming part of that group. I mean like, not that I say there shouldn't be an option to treat her well. Heck, even if the protagonist goes out on her, he'd probably still treat her better than Crayden. I just would really love to be able to keep her in complete hatred of the protagonist without that denying access to her scenes.

I mean, we didn't have angry sex involving the protagonist since the pharao ending for the first game. Osira was much more willing in the second game after all.

    10. Yeah I've been busy with college so I haven't been able to play through all of episode 2 yet T_T

But instead of Laquadia all out hating the protagonist, I prefer her to not hate the protagonist that much. Like I said, I prefer her treating him like an obnoxious little brother. On the surface she would hate him but deep, deep down she really doesn't. Like in her scenes, she always complained about what the protagonist did to her, especially in the renegade options. And while afterwards she hated it and him, during the act she didn't.

      Delete
    11. You mean you want her to be a Tsundere?

      Delete
    12. Hell no. I just feel that having her all out hate him isn't quite right. More like he's an annoyance she puts up with and secretly likes having sex with. Kind of like a sexy, female version of professor snape from Harry Potter before the later movies. Before we found out how much of a tragic good guy he was and simply accepted him as a bad/mean guy who was on our side. Or possibly a sexy female version of Mr. Filch. He was always mean and on the "bad" side until the real bad guys showed up at the end of the franchise.

      Delete
    13. I don't really see how that's not a modern tsundere? The archetype simply means a character who's alternating between beeing completely dismissive and somewhat affectionate to a potential love interest. If it's the comically exegerated violent form of it that's often used in recent times, that's not necessarily part of the archetype.

I never watched much of the Potter movies, though I read the first six books. But what you seemingly want to say is that you want her to be a more multi-layered character with several shades of grey (not related to the book!) then the obvious villainess with good publicity she is so far.
      Did I get that right?

An understabdable request, though not really what I'd want to see.

    15. Not exactly. What I'm trying to say is I'm fine with her being a villainess or simply a bad person. She's just a villainous/bad person who is working with the good guys. She doesn't have to be multi layered with a tragic backstory or a warped moral code. I want her to NOT be a tsundere. I don't want her to secretly like or love the protagonist. I just don't want her to full on hate the protagonist. Because I want her to have a connection with the protagonist. That way it makes better sense then a scenario where she actually hates the protagonist but has sex with him repeatably because she's afflicted the Loqo slut virus. Because when I think about the Laquadia scenes that I personally have seen (not finished with episode 2 so no spoilers please) Laquadia does have a healthy sex drive but she obviously doesn't want to do it with just anyone. Her preference being Crayden and the paladins as a substitute for him. She definitely didn't like doing with Vazaar (or whatever the bull's name was) nor did she like being a cum dump for the lizard men. If it were any of the other Loqo girls they would be (or pretend to be) against it at first and then ultimately succumb to the pleasure, Farah,Layla, and Gabriel especially, Opala and Osira might require a slight mind break. But Laquadia didn't do that. Her mind broke but not seemingly with pleasure. However when I think back to the first scene with Laquadia and the protagonist, she could have refused him or punished him but she allowed him to use her boobs. And even when you force her into a blow job and her relationship meter says she hates it, her behavior says otherwise. Even when you sneak up on her in the bath, she still lets you get away with it even though she's pissed. This could be attributed to her not wanting to tarnish her appearance or to possibly ruin the plan to frame him. But some kind of punishment could have been in order, and she didn't have to let it get that far in both cases. It's not really a tsundere as she is still willing to have him die (plus it's not a tsundere unless the accused specifically says something like "I-It's not like I like you or anything! B-Baka!"). She's obviously bad. I just don't think "hate" is the right word to describe how she feels about him.

What I'm trying to say is, I kind of like the idea that she and he protagonist are part of some dysfunctional, non biologically related family. Similar to the way Osira is with Opala and Farah. She can toss you in jail and have you enslaved or killed even. But at the same time she can also be at the family dinner talking about their history. Especially with the side quest that we get where we sneak into Laquadia's room to help that "fan" of hers. To me that's just like some childhood adventure/trouble to get into with someone in your family or your friends. I can see Laquadia and the protagonist someday being the same as Osira and Opala and Farah because of the history they share.

    16. That's pretty sensible, still some minor observations:

      1. Yes, Laquadia des have a healthy sex drive. But from what I've seen so far it's centered entirely around one single person. I have no idea how you came to the conclusion the paladins fill in for him. I don't recall anything that might've even implied that. We don't even know if those guys are even remotly human anymore.

      2. Her not punishing the protagonist or putting an end to his antics: As you already said simply explained by the fact that Laquadia was in on Crayden's plan for him. She knew he was needed close to the pair. So she had to tolerate him even if he voiced her displeasure as openly as possible. Heck, the bath episode took place imidiatly before Crayden was taking him to the north, if she'd admolished a sentence for that, the plan would've failed because of her pettyness (from Crayden's perspective). That's why she had her "I-can-finally-stop-this-charade" gloating in the prison.

      3. Osira is so far the only of the royals that has never, in any circumstances enjoyed non-consensual sex in any way. so I really doubt she'd need just "a slight mind break". Heck, sexual pleasure doesn't work like depicted in the game anyway, it's just done so to be titilating, but even in-universe, she's so far the most strong-willed of the royals in that regard, probably because she prefers to be the dominant partner.

      4. Saying something like that is not at all a requirement to fulfill the tsundere archetype, that's a cliché about the archetype. Hence it should only turn up when the character in question is lazily written or a parody (or predates the emergence of the archetype).

But before we pin-pong this any further, one thing we probably can both agree on: We simply have different interpretations of Laquadia's character. You think she's a morally reprehensable villainess that still might have enough of a sex drive to uh, "appreciate" the protagonist even if subconcious. I consider her just the former.

      Delete
    17. 1. In episode 1 when we first saw Laquadia trying to seduce Crayden she said the paladins aren't enough to satisfy her. Crayden is very selfish and only has sex with her when he wants to. So Laquadia uses the paladins in his place. The paladins are former humans.
      2. I did forget about the part where she said she was glad she could stop the charade. But I will say that they didn't really need to frame the protagonist for the crime (unless they say in episode 2. If they do, just say yes or no, don't give specifics) and Laquadia would still have to pretend that she was good if the protagonist wasn't framed at all. She goes down to the prisons to taunt ALL the prisoners. It's her release from pretending to be good all the time in Collusia.
      3. I agree with you on Osira. I was just making the point that Laquadia did not have to allow the protagonist to have sex with her whether she was pretending to be good or not. Seriously even as she was pretending to be good she was still strict and talked smack to the protagonist before and complained about Kythe to him. So he KNEW Laquadia wasn't pure and holy, he just didn't know she was so sinister.
      4. That specific point was actually a joke. But I must stress that I do NOT want her to be tsundere. But all out hatred is just a little too strong for my tastes.

Yeah we do have different interpretations of/wishes for Laquadia's character. But I also want to clearly point out that the reason for my interpretation of Laquadia being morally reprehensible but also "appreciating" the protagonist is due to a familial connection of some sort. Like I said, a dysfunctional family similar to How Osira is with the rest of hers. They can enslave them or have them killed one minute but at the next they can peacefully have dinner and make inside jokes and chat about their past like what happened in Loqo 2.

Lastly I want to say is I hope you realize I'm not trying to make this an argument. This is just a conversation to me. If I sound annoyed or frustrated it's aimed at myself for not being able to articulate my point in the way I would like to.

    18. 1. That seems to have completely passed me by despite me playing through the game 50 times or so by now for all the different scenes... You sure SweGabe didn't rewrote the part like she did with some minor scenes since the release of episode 01?

In any case, can you tell me in which scene in particular she said that, I'll pay attention next playthrough.

      2. Yeah she does, but that seem to be an extra special case for her, after all the others are just imprisoned there but for him, she wanted to look him in the eyes when he was told he'll be executed.

      3. That's correct but there are some parts in episode II that are implying that Crayden used Laquadia's charms to get ahead in his life for ages so she's more used to that then one might think. I won't say anything more till you've finished Episode II though.

      4. Point taken. My bad for not noticing the humorous intent but such stuff does not travel well in text form without emoticons. Try adding a (ツ) or something after it if you want to make it more obvious.

Yeah, I got that by now, just the same like I don't want that so much since that'll make her a bit to similar to Osira, like I stated before.

Don't worry, same here. I'm just seeing this as an interesting discussion. I don't want to convince you of my viewpoint, just lay out my reasons for it while getting to know yours.

  2. And the best part of this Va is that you can use the grones for combat to!
As for the repeatable tent excursions i can see it now, no matter where they are Devon just sets up a tent.
There in castle Warrengard and Farah gets proposed, she ponders "But we've got a castle now and soft beds". Goes to the bedroom and Devons at a campfire by the side of the bed and the tent made on the bed and so on and so on, in a inn make a tent, on a boat make a tent.

I mean, there was voiced dialogue in LOQO II, just normal plot stuff, so why not have male voices for the male NPCs?

    5. Pretty sure some people don't want a male VA because he might moan in the sex scenes, the horor, on that aspect i'm pretty indifferent, but for everything else ya it would be pretty cool to have a male VA protag.

Is 50 the cap and are you going to be adding difficulties to the game going forward?
