Legend of Queen Opala: Origin - Update

Tuesday update!
And damn straight, I actually spelled it correctly this week!

We'll begin as always to get the last poll out of the way, and this one was about which Legend of Queen Opala game you overall preferred, all things concidered, with 1384 votes collected!

Legend of Queen Opala II (LoQOII)
Won by 75%, being 1047 of the votes.
Legend of Queen Opala (LoQO)
Lost with 24%, 337 of the votes.

I...guess it's pretty clear! LoQOII is concidered the overall best game out of the two so far, but there will be plenty more polls comparing these two in the upcoming weeks, with the current one active by the time this was printed is a challenge between the two protagonists.

So what is new with Legend of Queen Opala: Origin...?
The next beta should hit very soon, and again, it's not really much added content, more of a fix of every bug/glitch reported so far and a lot of placeholder graphics replaced with the real deal, though it will have a few more areas and one, to two, new adult scenes!

It'll also introduce a new, very rare enemy type you only have a 20% chance of encountering each time you enter a region through the worldmap, and zooming between maps won't do a thing.
Though you'll probably be able to obtain some kind of item that makes them spawn more frequently, or perhaps have them show up more commonly the further you get into the game, as these things will have a 100% drop rate for an object needed to unlock content at guilds you can access through obtaining titles.

And to round up the week, have a new screenshot taken from a cliff, overlooking the infamous prison Darkthorn Keep...but I don't think that specific outlook is final, I might add some clouds and such for the final version of the area.

The only thing fake about the screenshot is Farah's comment, that won't be in the game, sorry!

See you next week!

    1. Offbeater is closed. I forget if there is another payment option to get into the beta run.

    2. The first episode has a May 2015 release window, but it could be earlier than that.
And I still accept donations for beta runs and the other pledge rewards, but that has to be made by mailing me personally first.

  3. Just wondering will it be possible to transfer saves from the first beta to the next one?

    1. It'll always be possible, but for the next one, I wouldn't recommend it since glitched saves will always remain glitched.

    2. No problem, It's not much to start over when it's so early on.

  5. this is probably a dumb question, but would you consider making the older betas public as the new ones come out, provided you make it clear that bug reports be limited to either the "current" beta, or bugs present in multiple older versions?

    1. No, beta access is a privilege to those who helped make this game a reality, and I really don't want 50+ beta versions of the game being published online by the time the REAL episode 1 releases. xD

  7. In my opinion Jake was better main character because he could be either evil or good and so he seemed more in the lead of what he was doing than Kai. Kai could behave like asshole but he still just went along with the plan of freeing Opala.

    1. the evil and good paths certainly made Jake better (especially the evil path) , but in terms of appearance Kai is way more better, you know the dark red short hair and the cool black trenchcoat, he's just so badass, and about that behaving like an asshole part, you're right, we need more like that.

    2. same thoughts here. I really like to play an "evil" charakter. Can't really understand all that selfless behaviour most protagonists do. Why not take opportunities like taking a throne for oneself?

    3. Still I suppose that non-linearity gave more points for entire game not just for protagonist. Kai has more interesting premise and it's not really his fault that's his only choice is pretend that he is just a human. All these dillizards, werewuffies and other are his people after all, but he is too busy saving royal asses.

    4. Jake was also willing to take the royals as sex slaves, which makes him 100% better in my book. Kai seems to be a bit of an NTR fetishist, kind of the opposite.

    1. Yeah, if I had a publisher, they'd probably tell me to cut out all the unlockable content so it can be sold as DLC instead... xD

    2. You should have gotten an email notice either from Offbeatr or from Gabe depending on how you did your funding. So carefully check your email inbox and spam folder.

A few Offbeatr people who pledged at the Beta Access level and above did not receive a link, if you're one of them then send a message through Offbeatr to Gabe.

If you were not part of the original crowd-funding effort and are interested in sending money for access to the Beta and other pledge rewards than email Gabe directly.

    1. Oh yeah, if I've released any more betas, I'll always announce it in my next update, just in case someone didn't get his/her copy. :)

  15. Hey Gabe! I've played your games for the past few years and I just recently stumbled upon this blog :). Anyways, I have a question and sorry if this has been already asked, but how come you don't have running in your games? I remember that it would take me a long while to get around map and places so I'd figured I'd ask >_<. Thanks in advanced!

    1. The character run by default, though there is a unlockable sprint feature in LoQOII, and it will be in LoQO:O as well. :3

    2. Or you can use cheatengine to speed up the game like twice. >_>
      Much more enjoyable this way.
