Legend of Queen Opala: Origin - Bull Protagonist

Tuesday update, aww'yeah!
Support me and production of the LoQO games at - Patreon

The race is on - will the drillings stop or will my mind snap first? Who will come out victorious!? But in all seriousness and trying to hold back the whining here, I feel very grateful there will only be three more weeks of construction work going on in my appartment complex, at most.

Sadly I haven't really been able to do anything with the game this week either, which likely will be a repeating tale until I can sleep properly, so I've only done some bug fixing from the previous beta and supervising content being created for the game by other people, such as the beastman mode illustrations, battleposes, pixel sprites, and of course voice recordings.

Speaking of which, this week I'm introducing the bullman choice out of the three beasts that'll eventually be available! Now, this guy would be of the same species as another bull I showed before, the Val'Toras who'd be an ally of Osira.
And thus, only the horseman remain!

(EDIT - Just a small mentioning that the model scout and photographer working with me to make the cosplay photoshoots happen goes under the name Radim KlĂmek, if anyone was curious!)

See you again next week, and thanks for enduring this tough time with me!

    1. He "was" finished, but I talked the artist into changing the haircut as I found it a little too similar to the wolf...so I'm to be blamed. x3

    2. Should have read the article before commenting. -.-
Anyway, saving the best character for last i see.

Also, hang in there, don't let them drill into your head!

    3. Hah, you replied to it JUST as i deleted it. Great.
      "so i'm to be blamed."
      Bad Gabe, bad. :3

  2. Just a question, more lore related.
How do people react to say a bullman/wolfman in town. when werewuffles and minotaurs are common monsters?

Or is it just a normal socially accepted thing. Like white, black, bull, Irish. Nothing unusual?

    1. Well, bullman/wolfman seem more civilized when they're wearing clothes, which attract less attention...it's also how you behave.
For example, a bullman and a minotaur would both dress and behave very differently in settlements/towns, that is mostly habitated by humans.

A white guy in ragged underwears, using a spear and goes through trashcans would stick out like a sore thumb in the middle of Washington DC too. xD

    2. But yes, beastman are probably looked down a bit by humans, but certainly not feared, at least not in towns if you have numbers on your sides.

    3. Oh okay, just I was a bit confused that the Empire is supposed to be at war with monsters.

    4. Namaria is at war, against the insect race An'Terra.
The Beldorian Empire however is attempting to start a war with the Land of Savages, but at the point where the game is, the blame hasn't clearly been pinned on that land yet.

  3. Will there be any special dialog/flavor text for the beastmen anywhere else in the game(s)? Or had that not been finalized yet?

    1. At first I didn't want to make any playthrough different, depending on who you play as...but I think some of the dialogues needs to be tweaked or changed to fit better with the beastmen.

  4. Maybe near the end of the game development or maybe during episode 2's development if you have time maybe you can make more beast man variations? Three is great but maybe down the road if there is time and money?

  5. I'll be honest, after seeing wolf beastman... I was half expecting the bullman or the horseman to have some Mohawk haircut...

  6. A pompadour. If you've seen Jonny Bravo, its his hairstyle. If you haven't, think Elvis, but twice as big.

Or you could give him a mullet.

Or make it a poll and have the people decide.

  7. I am really looking forward to who the horseman is or going to look like.

    2. Probably not the only thing that gets stretched around here.

  9. Will the game actually pick up with the open-end of LOQO 2???
You may have mentioned it one time or another but I forgot :/
Had to study a lot... so there was no time for keeping up with the infos of LOQO Origin :S
My idea would be that episode 1-2 of this game would be about Farah and her youth, how she met the Pharao and I would scheme about the third episode being a time-travelling plot to help the cast of LOQO 2 (with the main hero being absent of course like Jake) fight the Ant'erra or whatever their name was :D

    1. Unless a whole lot changes from the beta, it probably won't go down like that at all.

    2. Wow, I saw you on the blog before so I figured you played the betas too, I didn't know you were out of the loop waiting for the free episode 1. I'll say that you will probably like the story, it's different from what you specifically are expecting but some of what you said might be in there. But the thing is, we really don't know where Gabe will take it since we are only on episode 1 but it might go in your route. I haven't finished loqo 2 yet though so I'm not completely sure either.

    3. Actually I can tell you specifically but I don't want to spoil it so let me know if you want full or semi spoilers, semi is where I answer your question without telling you the full story as it is :)

    4. Wow thanks guys this community is cool :D
Sadly I didn't play the betas since my budget is kinda low :P (lol being at college and stuff :3) and this would also take a lot of the fun from the finished product away, since with each update you will only have a small amount of new things to discover unlike waiting for the whole thing...
But well, one can only dream of something like this happening *_*
So yeah please no big spoilers - want to have the pleasure of discovering everything :)

  11. Hey Gabe, I've been playing LOQO 2 and I have got to say that the game is surprisingly long compared to LOQO 1. So taking that into account it's pretty amazing how ambitious you're being with LOQO Origins. You might have answered this a long time ago but as far as the story is going, do you think it will last longer than LOQO 2's? And as far as scenes, will there be even more or the same amount of scenes in episode 2 and 3 of LOQO Origins like there was in episode 1?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Thank you!

I'm pretty sure Origin will end up being both longer and larger than LoQOII, and the amount of scenes ending up in episode 1 will probably reflect how many more will be added with each additional episode after that. :)

  12. Gabe I'm worried about this VATMOSS thing and how it might effect you.

    http://studiofow.tumblr.com/post/111985433539/vatmoss-r-i-p-sfm-friends

From what I gather is that it is a tax applicable to anyone receiving digital content they paid for and the content distributor needs to monthly collect data proving that the customers who do live in the EU actually do.

    1. VATMOSS is such a mess of information and shady laws that can easily be bent to any goverement's will to earn a quick buck, it doesn't only affect people in EU, but anyone, anywhere, who as much as deal with someone living in EU.

And how much you earn doesn't matter, so every single illustrator and fanfic writer in the world who takes commissions, along with website owners, would also be affected, there is just no way everyone can keep track of that. :3

    2. I wouldn't put it past the (dis)organized legions of EU bureaucracy. The fact they want to tax online donations is yet another brick of proof that the whole system and the entire socialist economy is collapsing. Here's to hope it happens sooner than later. And even before that here's to hope VATMOSS doesn't get swept under the rug and passes quietly before too many people notice.
Worst case scenario, all the funding required for all three episodes is ready, aye? Anything additional is extras and bonuses?

      Delete
    3. Yeah, what I get monthly from Patreon now will be more than enough to fund this game, and any other games I'll make after it. :)
