Due to not having a lot of progress to report as I've only been working on storymode cutscenes this past week, I was thinking of bringing up something called the "Dream Blight" that'll very much play a part of the overall story and may tie together a few plot threads in a surprising way.
But its also one of those things that'll be more fascinating, the less you know. ;3

The Dream Blight is a rare disease that strikes you while you sleep.
Very little is known about it, but rumor has it if you visit the Cathedral of Colussia at night when no one is around, and you listen really closely, you can hear the faint sound of crying children.
Unfortunately for you, this is also the first sign you've caught the Dream Blight, as you'll be found dead in bed shortly after, disfigured as if your body was trying to morph into something else during the sleep, killing you in the process...

Sleep tight, everyone! I'll see you again next week! :D

    1. Oh dear, I'll be saying "sorry" a lot this week, won't I? xD

    2. Yeah, followed immediately by "not sorry" XD.
But I hope this connects to naacia

    3. Always wondered why neither Jake nor Kai thought of the true potential of enslaving an dream invading succubus. I mean, besides from hot demoness sex slave.

Using her to invade Laquadia's dreams for giggles could be quite entertaining.

    4. They were probably too busy thinking of more...personal invasions.

  2. I wanted some Bloodborne/Dark Souls/Demon's Souls level of mystery in my game...sorry. >:D

  3. Oh great...And I thought the gigantic titty rape child of the Joker and Harley Quinn was bad enough.

    1. For some reason, all the female deranged, murdering psychopaths in games and anime have hot bodies....

There are more yanderes in my waifu collection than there should be.

    2. Nah, not all of 'em. Take Zorin Blitz for example:

      https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/hellsing/images/a/a4/Zorin_Blitz.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140517114628

She certainly isn't full on repulsive looking, but rather plain and a bit on the masculine side.
Tough all those tattoos in combination with her contortous facial expressions often make her look uglier than she actually is:

Back to Masquarade, I don't know if she qualifies as full blown yandere yet, since those character typically adirect their aggression more to potential suiters for their crush than the crush itself, while Masquarade barely notices the female harem our protagonist is traveling with. Could change of course, all left up to our beloved writress.

    3. Actually, yanderes show aggression to both potential suitors and their crush. There are many who will resort to killing their crush if they believe them to be unfaithful. Then there are those that wish to kidnap their crushes and hold them prisoner.
This girl below is Xue Li from the Chinese anime Cupid’s chocolates.

Not only does she want to kill any potential suitors to her crush, she wants to keep him confined in a place where she can take care of him forever. When he ran away, she contemplated breaking his legs and taking him to a cabin in the Himalayas where she can look after him forever (since he won’t be able to use husband legs). When he lied about another girl, she considered forgiving him but cutting out his tongue so he could never lie to him again.
      THAT’S Yandere.

    5. Yeah, I know. Sorry if I wasn't clear about it but my point was that aggression isn't targeted at the crush itself, but that even that aggression is often triggered by the yandere thinking the crush might be interested in another person, of maybe even pasttime.

Masquarade however, despite obviously crushing hard and homocidal on our hero, doesn't seem to care one bit that he has an ever expanding harem with him.

Also: So Xue Li is basically the Chinese Misery?

  4. Has your vision for the game changed any since you started it?

  5. *fan-theory mode engaged*

Naacia is involved in the plotting of Crayden! Sometime after the events of the second game, she tried to pull her dream manipulation of Crayden who saw right through it but instead of offing her, saw a useful tool and put her to use in the Cathedral.

Okay, I seriously doubt that's what's going on but seriously, nothing wrong with some Naacia love, ain't it?

    1. I would love to get a scene with naacia and then recruit her. She could possess you and help defend you against mental and magic attacks.

    2. And in modern gaming, Theories tend to be anoyingly attractive as well as contorted into positions that look downright painful just so both the chest and behind are in full view:

  6. "morph into something else during the sleep" Ya that's pretty much what happens in RL under the sheets when you can't go to sleep toss and turn so much that by the end of it you're a professional contortionist or a horribly deformed lovecraftian horror.
Needless to say this has so much potential and can't wait to see how this story point unfold!

    1. Hehe, well I can say it won't be a disappointing, anti-climactic reveal... ;)

    2. And finally in the big shocking reveal we find out that all this time the true villain of the story was... The villain of the story.

    3. It was the bridge all along wasn't it? I knew it!

    4. Nah, the true villain is you! The player! Since you force sweet inocent Devon into lewd acts against his will! My gosh, what a mind blowing post-feminist deconstruction of represed male insecurity!

  9. Speaking of story. I have forgotten, what exactly is the original of those bug things from the last game. I know they had something to do with the accent race, but what exactly. Also, will we be seeing them again?

    1. I haven't gone back and refreshed my memory on their backstory for a few years, so I might be wrong...but I think the An'Terra is a subspecies that was entirely made scientifically by the Neverus Empire, as they experimented on themselves to try to find a solution to being unable to reproduce normally.
