While I knew Colussia was big and would take a long time to finish, I had no idea the difference was going to end up being as vast as it turned out to be...

Because while Colussia took a month to update with all the new layouts, this week alone I've already finished Port Ronod, Rivulet Hills, Caimridge and Fellhorn Ruins.
And that is despite doing a lot of rewriting, since apparently the first cutscene in Caimridge was so old it didn't reflect you could be a beastman...or that beastmen lived outside of the Land of Savages in general, but also some Laquadia/Osira interractions needed to be changed to better reflect how the story has evolved over the decade.

But that'll be all for now, see you next week!

Colussia is finally done being updated, every page in each event on all individual maps!
The next juggernaut to handle will surely be Castle Warrengard, but I'm going in order following a list, and the citadel is among the last locations I'll get around to doing.
(Although, I may do that one sooner for other reasons)

Next up is Port Ronod, and I'm already halfway done with that place.
My goal is to finish up the areas in the first region and then launch the next beta as a bit of a v3.1.34 launch with so much changed, improved and reworked it deserves to be replayed from scratch to experience everything new.

That's my plan ahead, I'll see you again next Tuesday!

The work-train is chugging along, choo-choo!

Now all outdoor and indoor maps in main Colussia is updated, with only a few in the Imperial Castle left and the underground/sewer sections remaining.
While the capital would've been a slow place to update nevertheless, it's going even slower due to me finding issues with the cutscene writing and changing/editing or outright replacing big chunks of the 10 year old dialogue.

Nearly every scene with Laquadia, Crayden, Beatrix and Masquerade has been tweaked, some noticeably different than others...like your first encounter with the jester now making her leave, crying over your meeting being love at first squeeze.

And that leaves me with another screenshot of the updated UI, see you next week!

Slowly but surely, the massive update is proceeding.

All outdoor locations in Colussia and a good chunk of indoor maps are done updating.
Apart to the graphics of so much changing, so too is how certain events are processed, like shops and blacksmiths having some filler conversation cut to make the purchase/upgrade process much faster without using any excessive menus.
Several dialogues with NPC's and during cutscenes have been altered too.

Another change with the new UI is how relationship points are displayed when earned or lost, with a preview below of the protagonist smooth-talking Elin.
...Along with another random screenshot!

Hopefully I'll have all of Colussia done by next week, see you then!

An update to surpass all updates is in effect...

The amount of work required for the UI update was much more than I originally thought, but carefully going over each event multiple times while doing specific changes/tasks each time seem to work without being too overwhelming.
I've almost finished updating all outside maps in Colussia, which apart from Castle Warrengard, is probably the most time consuming location to finish by far as it covers several time periods, have a lot of cutscenes and is also early enough in the game to have mirrored cutscenes. (Evil/Good protagonist alignment)

But its not only the UI being updated, a lot of small things too like including visual indicators when you are about to make a decision that affect evil/good alignment, removing the ME playing each time you obtain a new illustration, replacing the placeholder jingle for the earned titles, etc.
Menus in battle is being updated too, with the ally/enemy arrow icon changed and placed higher up where it will no longer be obscured by your party.

Work today isn't done for me, so I'm heading back into it!

Y'all with beta access are now one release richer!

Didn't even announce it, but the latest beta got a sneak release this weekend.
And with that done, I can finally move on to the juggernaut of an undertaking with updating one of the most basic, core features of the game, textboxes.
This update is going to take a long time to process and I will surely slip up in some places as it requires a lot of effort and concentration, but it'll be very much worth the pain in the end, considering how much better it looks already.
I'm also not saying this will be all I'm doing for the upcoming weeks, if my brain is struck with a big spark of imagination, I'll definitely switch focus to storytelling while it lasts.

Below is a work-in-progress of how the new textbox/layout will appear in the game.
I'll see you next week!

The cinema at the Gentlemen's Club basement is fully finished!
Filling out the "Connoisseur's Catalog" and finding the various treasures for the hermit on Gooner Island now also hands out rewards properly, with six more films available.
If you've already reached the required milestones, all you have to do is interact with the drop-off points to automatically unlock your rewards and be notified about it.

But that is all I have to report for now, I'll be back again next week!

Wouldn't you know, it's already Tuesday again!

I was exploring some additional ways of unlocking animations, and while some methods were better than others, the results of the scrapped ideas can still be seen as a few locations went through a transformation and were kept that way.
Such as the home of the hardcore Laquadia stalke...err, "fan", in Colussia.
But something that I am working on that'll be kept is a new cinema found in the basement of Gentlemen's Club, and I've also added three more treasure maps.

Aaaand that's it for today, see ya next week!

There are still moments each day I want to claw my face off from the withdrawals.
While the brainfog is still an issue and pretty bad, there are hours I can break through it.

But that's not why you're here, and I can happily inform you I've successfully been steadily working more and more on the game every day this week!
And that in itself is clearly evidence I'm getting better, even if I don't feel it directly!
Most attention was given to the cinema, as I introduced a way to let players manually trigger the "climax" for the handful of animations that do offer such an ending, along with letting you stay within the cinema menu after finishing a movie, rather than exiting.

I also fixed a number of bugs and missing features, like the latest party member not showing up in the training ground or certain unlockable characters in the photoshoot atelier becoming available again too soon in NG+.

That's about it for this week though, so I'll see you again next Tuesday!

Slowly but surely, I'm crawling back to it...!

I would start by asking myself what I were thinking while working last week as I find myself now correcting a few minor issues with graphical updates I did...but that's just it, I wasn't thinking! At least not straight, and that isn't even a gay joke!

A few more animations got some attention to them with new sound effects added, in-game maps showing the world has been updated to reflect how everything looks now compared to when they were originally created, not much in all, but certainly more than what I had to say last Tuesday.

Should only get better from now on, I hope! See you next week!

The withdrawal brain-fog is still doing its dark magic, cleared up enough to let me focus, yet not enough to let me concentrate at the same time...if that makes any sense?
But according to medical results on other people who went through the same thing, it's perfectly normal as it takes at least two weeks of withdrawals before your body and mind finally starts to heal, and tomorrow marks having gone through two weeks for me.

I have been dabbling a little bit in the game production, although nothing worth mentioning so it's probably just better to say I took this week off as well, even if it isn't entirely true.

Please bear with me riding out this storm, and I'll see you again next week!

This is going to be one of those word salad posts.
Because in all honesty, I was forced to take this week off to deal with some real life stuff.
I'm not quite over it yet, but I do believe it should be sorted out sometime this week.
And due to how important the next step in development is with updating all the textboxes, changing the emoticons and keeping track of all that, probably not wise doing that when you're distracted.

So here is the battle-plan, men!
When I get my head out of the clouds, I'll first focus on polishing up some stuff with the animations etc. and release a new beta with that included, before I deep dive into the layout reconstruction.

And to not keep anyone worried, no one has died or is dying, so it's not that!
Let's, uhh...say I have quit horsedicks and the withdrawal is intense!
Oh, but I did manage to get this view of the worldmap done!

See you next week, hopefully with better results!

Momentarily pause from the grindstone!

The 360+ emoticons have been adjusted for the new framework and replaced the old.
This was something that had to be manually processed, one by one, since they'll need to replace the previous ones with the exact same individual names, otherwise they won't overwrite the old set, much like how replacing pictures/movies in a folder works.

Now begins the real effort, going through every textbox in the game and adjusting them for the new look while tweaking the emoticon coding to reflect the new style and layout.
At least the way it'll be done, it will allow me to smoothly change emoticons and textboxes in the future without having to edit anything in-game again, even if I change the size/style of the emoticons.

See you on the road next week!

Late night Tuesday post! (In some parts of the worlds)

Don't have too much to report for this one I'm afraid, this entire week was prepping for the massive textbox overhaul I showcased a while back, which is looming ahead.
This meant I had to go through all the emoticon sets and edit them to fit the new style that'll show them in a much larger size, and since there are over 360 emoticons when counting all the different characters and various expressions they have, along with some required a lot more work than others, yeah, it took some time!

So with that, I'll see you once more next week!

How about that, another Tuesday!

This was the final week I'll be spending on the animations since I feel I've done all I can for now, only the longer clips have voiced lines to avoid repetition during shorter loops, although they all have sound effects added to them and each film will have its own music playing in the background, instead of them all sharing the same one.

Other than that, I mostly did some work "behind-the-scenes" with the trading cards.
The only noticeable thing about that would probably be the Kythie Champion you were unable to challenge at the Eastern Lighthouse being replaced with a Mhu'Tiki Champion, which you can take on a finally complete her set.
Oh, and I also removed the "Bonus" section entirely from the Art Gallery and just made that tag into Cosplay Photos instead, since the bonus section itself only used to contain the photos, animations (which is pointless now with the cinema) and "special", that never had anything in it to begin with.

So onward until next week we go!

This week has been all about that cinema experience...

And by that, I of course mean the one you can build at Castle Warrengard!
A total of 22 movies are now added in total, along a quite lengthy "feature film".
It took three days to get that one done as it has well over 100 frames, nearly 2 minutes of runtime, all with added dialogue, sound effects, carefully selected frame pauses, etc.
It's the full-length version of Laquadia's...headbanging, yes.

I'm on the fence if I should add sound to all the movies, but that one was special.
There is another movie that have audio too, so we'll see!

With that, I'll see you next Tuesday as always!

Almost forgot it was Tuesday again...been a busy week!

And no, it wasn't an April Fools' Joke, even if the beta was released on that day.
One could argue the joke was on me though, since I had to re-release it a few days later with some bug fixes, but also including the cinema mechanic for Castle Warrengard.
As tradition, I don't have much to yap about right after a new beta since all the time spent before, around, and sometimes a bit after, has been on fixing bugs.

But next week will always be there, and so will I!

The next beta will be out tomorrow!

I can't promise everything will be flawless, but this is the first instance in a very long while I feel like the release isn't rushed and I have to cut corners to be done on time.
Five new locations will be available, several optional cutscenes and one new side-quest.
Castle Victorum will also be open for exploration, but enemy encounters and story progression is disabled since it would be an awkward spot to leave you hanging without the story arc being finished.

There are a lot of fixes and improvements of various sizes too, although the most obvious one you will notice right away is how the ocean is now rendered compared to the previous beta...and Velvstedt having a teleportation crystal, of course!
Oh, and let's not forget the whole "Concubine Maker" thing!

Enjoy what tomorrow brings and I'll see you next week!

This week has been all about polishing, for the most part.
The Quick-Menu has been finalized, although it did alert me of an issue with it that's been in the game since the feature was introduced, it's a bit of an annoyance if you know how to trigger it so I'll have to get that fixed sometime before the whole game is 100%.
Also added a short cutscene with Mhu'Tiki that'll take place in your private chambers at Castle Warrengard during any time post Blackgard Stronghold, which sets up the Concubine Maker mechanic and lets you engage with it.

There are still some additional things I want to include, but I think it's fairly safe to say the upcoming beta will be out around Tuesday next week or very close to it!

And with that being said, I'll see you then!

I don't really have a name for it, so let's just call the NPC romancing I mentioned briefly last week for "Concubine Maker" for the time being, and I ended up adding six candidates across the world you can promote into your nightly stress relievers.
I wanted to add more, but while looking over the maps, these six came the most natural with each being a unique encounter and not something copy/pasted for everyone.
I'd like to add more in the future, although that might require some extra effort so I'll wait.

I'm also in the process of updating the Quick-Menu button, mostly to make it way easier and faster for myself to edit it in the future, but also to move some graphics around to make more frequently used buttons quicker to access and to fix some issues I found.

That should be all for this Tuesday, me thinks...see you next week!

After having an epiphany, Pandora's Box has been opened...

While I've finished all the beds with over 70 new collectables to find in what is probably considered late/post-game content busywork that some might find entertaining due to some in-game lore implications, I did start experimenting with the sex sequences you can have with your party members to see if I could expand upon it...and indeed, I stumbled upon a solution to a previous issue.

One that could open up the potential of engaging random NPC's with the same mechanic, with minimal effort apart from the initial asset creating...although, I only discovered it the other day, so I'm still in the asset creating process and don't want to promise too much yet in case there are some unforeseen consequences.
I'll hold my tongue until next week when I should know more!

Speaking of which, see you then!

Aaaaand I'm done with the beds, all 326 of them, which is not counting those you can sleep in for in-game reasons or those that can only be seen but not accessed.
Also found some things I had to fix while going through all that, like Crystal Hall looking really bad (unintentionally) when you visit it in another timeline and Isolated Shack requiring a post Duchess Arc update.

I'm going to continue working on the optional islands before the beta launch this month, but the required assets needed to continue the main story was finished this week too!

See you next Tuesday, per tradition!

Marking down one more for the road!

Most of this week has been polishing the oceanic worldmap and playtesting it to fix whatever issues I could find, like your occasional texture overlap and some corners that was incorrectly blocked off or allowed passage where it shouldn't be possible.
But also all the various islands and giving a bit more care to Kingdom of Hamsters, which is now named Hamster Park instead where you'll meet the savior of the little critters and learn what happened to the League of Perverts between LoQOII and Origin.
Oh, almost forgot, also in the process of updating every bed in the game, regarding what I mentioned last week.

That'll be it for today, see you next time!

Large or small, hold your cup, nobody knows how the text will end up!

Anyhoo, all those ship locations mentioned last week are now accessable and implemented, still need the usual looting spots and potential enemies, but all the base work and overall polish should be done.
I've also been working more on the Grope Fu saga, including some final touches to Grandmaster Pai'Zuri and setting up where it all leads to on Gooner Island, which in turn will make unusable beds at some places and empty dressing booths serve a purpose...

But that's about it, I'll be back once again next week!
