Phew! Finally got that last cutscene during the Blackgard Stronghold arc sorted out yesterday!
It ended up being longer than expected as there were some additional questions I wanted to address, such as two specific characters meeting for the first time and it feeling cheap to just brush it aside like it'd be nothing.

I'll be spending today and tomorrow on polishing up the new areas and hopefully finish the initial cutscene with Cecily in time before the release of the next beta...which will be late tomorrow!
So, sorry for the very light news update this week, but this bitch needs to get back to work!

As always, zone out and tune in next Tuesday!

  3. So at the end of this arc will we be able to save teen Farah? Or at least will we be free to move around the world again?

    1. You will be free to move around the world again, although saving Farah is unfortunately just one cutscene too far away. xP

  5. Two of the party members I'm most hopeful for is probably Laquadia and Sebastillion.
Laquadia for much the same reasons as why Osira joined in previous games.
Sebastillion cause now there's a spot open for another beast and a male in the party after the kythie incident, plus he's never been one before.

    1. If laquadia were to join, I’d rather she be a slave or something. Have something that binds her to us more than Osira was in the last game. I feel like Laquadia has just done too much to be able to work together with her so easily.

    2. What would convince Laquadia, though...? ;3

    3. I would imagine a flimsy alliance could be made with her on the idea of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Or a more long lasting one could be made if she is completely and utterly defeated and show that her method of gaining power was flawed, it's the idea of tearing it all down so you can build it all up again, and the building it all up again could be done in the party.

    4. Enemy of my enemy was already done with osira in the last game so doing it again would not be good. And tearing it all down and building her up again wouldn’t be convincing especially in such a short amount of time because Laquadia has been evil for decades and rather than simply using it as a means to an end seems to take sadistic pleasure in it. Osira at least seems to still have some love for her family underneath her evil behavior and in her view thinks that she would be a legitimately better ruler than Opala. But we don’t have anything like that for Laquadia. Crayden, as unlikely as it would be, seems to have more possibility for redemption since he has some honor along with his ruthlessness and doesn’t abuse his power like Laquadia does (as far as we know).

The only thing that could give Laquadia any humanity is possibly the protagonist’s history with them. But not only has that not been developed yet, but it only seems to be favorable to Crayden as he is said to have practically raised the protagonist. Meanwhile Laquadia was more than happy to see the protagonist get executed whether you triggered the scenes with her or not.

If Laquadia survives this game and you start the tear down process here, then maybe in the second game her build up could be believable.

In conclusion, best option to get her to join the party is to make her a prisoner or slave, perhaps by magical means.

    5. "Enemy of my enemy was already done with osira in the last game so doing it again would not be good." That's one hell of a flimsy argument, so what if it was already done, works of fiction would be incredibly boring if you could only explore an idea one time only.
"Osira at least seems to still have some love for her family underneath her evil behavior" Are you fucking serious here, did you actually say that, about the character who has had two games to take sadistick plesure in raping/torturing her own family...
"in her view thinks that she would be a legitimately better ruler than Opala" ya well im sure kim jong un thinks that he would be a legitimately better ruler than anyone else to.
"And tearing it all down and building her up again wouldn’t be convincing especially in such a short amount of time" There's no reason to constrain this theoretical plot thread to this game only.
But as far as tearing her down, have her join the party and use that as a springboard for further character development is very doable!

"In conclusion, best option to get her to join the party is to make her a prisoner or slave, perhaps by magical means." But, but... that's already been done so doing it again would not be good! See how that argument stupid now?!

    6. Here’s the thing. Since Enemy of enemy was done in the last game the repetition would be obvious. The sex slave thing was an ending to the first game as a reward and getting them in the party happened in the endgame. But having Laquadia as a sex slave or prisoner joining the party before the end game as part of the story would be different. And Gabe would most likely include dialogue with her that would develop her more and probably provide a lot of comedy especially to players who want revenge on her. That’s the difference. Plus unlike Osira in the last game whinwent from one of the big bad guys to having a drinking party with the family (that she had just had raped), I don’t see Laquadia being able to pull that off.

I never said Osira wasn’t sadistic and didn’t take pleasure in rape and torture of her family, I said that underneath all that she had some kind of love for them along with her belief that she would be a better ruler. But laquadia doesn’t have any of that. She is made out to just be pure evil and just likes being evil. I’m saying that Crayden and Osira as unlikely as it is have some qualities and connections that could make them redeemable, Laquadia unfortunately doesn’t. Gabe would have to reveal a lot of lore/background for her that could make us feel some kind of connection with her. But we are over two episodes in and it hasn’t happened yet. Plus Gabe told me a few weeks ago that laquadia still has stuff to do that really shows off her power meaning she still has more villainous stuff to do. So now we are even further into the story and the tear down process has not begun. So if you tried to tear her down and build her up again all by the end of this game alone, it won’t be believable. At least not for me, Gabe would have to do A LOT to make that work. If you start the tear down process now and she makes it to the next Loqo game then the build up process could work.

But if she gets defeated and made to be a slave/prisoner and joins the party that could be fun for just the potential comedy it could bring.

    7. "But having Laquadia as a sex slave or prisoner joining the party before the end game as part of the story would be different." That's the point i'm telling you, this applies to every plot thread, just because it's been done before dosent meem it can't be done differently, for example the enemy of my enemy ideia can go like this: you defeat Crayden and reinstall the previous rulers daughter as the new ruler, but turns out she's quiet unhinged and even worse than Crayden so through some circumstances you end up teaming with Laquadia to take her down. You can say how you like some plot threads and other not, all you like but the fact of the matter is when it comes to "don't use that because it's been done before" argument, it falls flat, because just like enemy of my enemy the prisoner or slave was done to, but you yourself give examples that made it different same thing applies to enemy of my enemy and all plot threads in fiction and that's what i told you in the first place.

"Osira in the last game whinwent from one of the big bad guys to having a drinking party with the family" And then swiftly betrayed them, you left that part out...
But speaking of family and betrayals i would argue that Laquadia has the upper hand on that point.
As far as we know now she has manipulated, betrayed and probably killed quite a few individuals but you know who she didn't do that to Crayden her family.
So when you say she has no redeemable qualities from where i'm sitting that's false, you can infer from the game that she has some redeemable qualities and that being some sort of loyalty to her brother.

As for the theoretical tearing her down plot thread your argument is that you personally wouldn't find it believable and that it's to close to the end of the game.
So for what you find to be believable, those are your preferences so whatever.
But i do disagree with the statement that it's too close to the end, the way you imagine it taking place is not the only way that could go, there doesn't need to be this big epic show story arc to be good a few scenes and a few camp dialogue can do the trick but that's just me and if there's another game after this and Laquadia is in it there would be something to look forward to in her character.
O and hey in the idea of tearing it all down so you can build it all up again there could be a great scene after you defeat her and she's having some sort of epiphany and you got through the game keeping her heart level at neutral then getting the option to hit her with the good old paragon dialog option and then you finally see it next to her heart icon +1, that wide pretty cool!

    8. I never said that doing something more than once is bad, but using the same plot in a story as in a previous segment even if done differently would be obvious. Besides making Francesca the bad guy after everything she and her family has been through wouldn’t be a good twist. Also, Laquadia only shows lust towards Crayden, her weird version of love that she’s willing to force if necessary. That doesn’t really make her more human. And even though Osira betrayed the family again shortly after teaming up with them, it was still more believable and showed more of her human/not so evil side. Laquadia couldn’t pull that off after everything she’s done. Laquadia’s development so far has only shown her to be on the path of evil. And think about it this way, it’s taking three games for Osira to go from THE big bad guy to not that bad but still a bad guy. Laquadia doing this in one game where she’s been completely evil for over half of it with no regrets? That just doesn’t work. You would need to do a lot of development to pull that off.

    9. "I never said that doing something more than once is bad" O for fuck sakes it was you first freking sentence Einstein "Enemy of my enemy was already done with osira in the last game so doing it again would not be good." and don't even start with the semantic arguments of "o well i didn't actually write it" the meaning is very clear!
"Laquadia only shows lust towards Crayden" again her sticking by Crayden side alludes to the contrary.

"even though Osira betrayed the family again shortly after teaming up with them" i don't even need to say anything the "well even though she betrayed the family again shortly after" shows perfectly her "not so evil side", you thinking she's better(as in good) than Laquadia is just baffling to me!

"Laquadia doing this in one game where she’s been completely evil for over half of it with no regrets? That just doesn’t work." Yes it does work, there have been many stories throughout history in which the evil character found redemption at the end of the story and it worked beautifully! Want an example? Darth Vader, so yes it can work very well.

  8. I have admit when I first saw cecily a few weeks back I wasnt interested and yet after the itroduction in the recent beta Ive been completely converted. From nothing more than a tidbit of mildy suggestive dialogue I now want this relationship dragged right into the perverted gutter. Maybe even get a chance to learn what life was like on that farm before he left to become a crusader.

This game is a bad influence and corrupts the mind....... I want the next beta asap haha.

I am actually thinking of having the major, visual Castle Warrengard upgrade to happen naturally without your input, but still task you with upgrading the various sections of the citadel yourself.
Still thinking that over, however. :3

  10. I have to say I usually do not like rpg games like this but you have succeeded in snatching my complete attention. I freaking love this game and its story, the characters are awesome and believable. Honestly that is kind of the problem there are so many interesting lady characters that I don't know which one I like the most (don't know if you plan on allowing multiple relationships with the ladies in the ending of the game).

My favorites so far are young farah, masquerade, Beatrix, surprisingly steel demoness and finally gabrielle.
Eagerly waiting to see the continued developement of this game.

  11. Hello again sorry to bother you but I have a 3 questions if you do not mind.

    1) Is sethxzoe still making artwork for this game? I don't mean to pry or anything but I fell in love with the guys art style but the newest artwork done by him that i could find was made in around 2017 has he stopped making ark alltogether?

    2) Is it normal that the unlocked CG scenes do not use the correct artist when looking through the art gallery. For example I got masquerades and beatrix's scenes with sethxzoes art yet in the art gallery it shows up as rex.

    3) How long does it take for you to make one episode on average? Sorry if this has already been answered but I just discovered your game, I saw you have a weekly update but I couldn't find anything on the episodes themselves.

Hope you find the time to answer, still in love with this game and can't wait to see more.
