Emergency Pledges/Update

So what I feared all along has come to happen, the Swedish goverement learned of my game and has now decided to cut all my funds which leaves me with absolutely no income until I get the crowdfundings for Legend of Queen Opala - Origin.

This places me in a very difficult position as I am just like any other person, in need for money to food and rent...so now more than ever, please, from the bottom of my heard I desperately asks for your financial help.
That is why I'm opening up three slots for a unique $2,000 "pledge" for my game.
But since I need that money as soon as possible, it can't be added to my Offbeatr page and will be paid directly.

This $2,000 donation allows you to have your own original character be the main protagonist in your own exclusive copy of the game, along with getting all the other Offbeatr pledge rewards from $600 and below.
I'll update this blog entry as the slots are taken, mail me if you are interested and you'll be signed up in the orderly turn it takes for your mails to show up in my mailbox.

All slots taken, thank you very much for the fantastic support!

Signing up for a slot but failing to pay the $2,000 donation gets you replaced by the next person in line.

I'm also accepting the Offbeatr $50-$300 pledges directly through mail now as well, contact me if you want to make a pledge or sign up for a $2,000 slot.

    1. Not the social services, they are the worst kind of goverement branch you can ever imagine.

  5. So they haven't taken away the funds that you will gain in about 32 days from the crowdfunding?

    1. No no, they have taken away my "wellfare" I get for being unemployed.

  6. In times like this, I would love to help, but I'm barely breaking even myself. I should be getting a better job soon, and would be more than happy to send some money to help...but thats a month out at the least, and another few weeks for my first pay check, and I fear that would be to late....
So, I will simply pray that others who care, like I do, have better funds than I do, and can help you out.

  7. In times like this, I wanted to have a proper job instead of an internship. I mean, I don't even have big ambitions, I live with my dad and most expensive stuff I buy is gaming stuff... I really wish I could send you the money Gabe :(

Let me see if I get this right: you're unemployed, and due to said unemployment, you have free time. You use said free time in which you can't get (or haven't gotten to find) a new job to fool around and make a game, one which isn't paid with government money. Why is the government cutting your welfare? o.O Are they considering money spent on a hobby or a job that isn't official employment to be a salary or something?

Trying to figure out, I mean, I live in Brazil, my dad is unemployed but he also gives classes on lighting to universities, and he still gets unemployment pays I think.

    1. Yeah, they consider my hobby to make makes as a actual job, paid or not...its just their narrow-minded view, and as such, they won't give me welfare because I have a "job". x3

    2. I dont know the swedish welfare system but I have heard it should be more "opened" then the danish welfare.
Have you asked for a written reason for this?
I know that it has worked for me to use the laws against them and if you have it written then you can if they are outside of swedish welfare law compain about them and thereby retake your welfare.

  8. I have a question, will those $2,000 donations be counted towards the stretch goals? So if you got all three you would be a few hundred from the alternate costume one?

    1. I think it could count towards the smaller stretch goals, but not the big ones like adding more episodes.

  9. I would love nothing more than to take that third spot for myself and not only support your work which I adore, but to have a chance with Farah herself :) I mean, who wouldn't? Alas, I'm broke myself :( And I don't even have any crowdfunding set up for MY game because I don't know enough about how it works to justify asking for donations so I can survive the production... I know it isn't much, but I wish you only the best of luck, Gabe, and I will pray that everything works out in the end and we'll get to see this third installment come to life. May the gods be with you...

  10. If i'm not mistaken, you didn't get anything from LoQO1.

Did you get any money from LOQO2? I remember something about preorder...?

    1. Almost everything I got around the production of LoQOII also went straight into the game budget so I could afford more art and scenes. :3

    2. Then that doesn't make much sense.
You don't get money for the game, and when you do you use it in the game production. I don't exactly see this as a job, it's something like a hobby. What the heck?
      Can't you appeal about it?

      Delete
    3. Doesn't have to make sense, they use any excuse they can find to not pay out welfare to people who really need it.

And I could appeal, but by the time that is probably over, I've already received my game budget and won't be allowed the money anyway. xP

  11. i've been wanting to ask for years now. Have any of the characters in any of your LOQO games been more or less, based off of people you know?
