Legend of Queen Opala: Origin - Defense Mode Engaged!

Support production of the LoQO games at - Patreon
And/Or follow me on - Twitter

It's kinda sad when I have to bring something like this up.
Usually I can shrug off negative feedback and false statements since I don't have to prove anything, my work does it for me, but it's when it gets under my skin and I start to doubt myself that things get a bit more complicated.
I'm referring to the accusations that I've become slower since I started up my Patreon, and hearing whispers for months have made me wondering if there was actually any truth to that...and in a twist that should surprise no one, there isn't!

So, let's deal with the subject like adults and bring out the facts, shall we? ;)

Seeing this list of my past work...where exactly do people find I've gotten slower?
This surely won't end the discussion, but seeing this for myself is enough for me to not feel bad about it anymore and allows me to ignore people talking behind my back about it with good conscious.

And with that, the topic has been dropped and won't never need to be brought up again.
So in other news, I'm sure you might've noticed the new layout of the blog! I'm also getting back to working on episode III now after my short "vacation" and is currently laying out the remaining worldmap for the Beldorian Empire. :3

So with that, I'll see you again next week!

  1. Wow, like the new blog appearance. It was quite unexpected though.

    One more question:
How soon should we expect a scene with Black Dame (looks like it's time for her to get one) and another scene with Zweibelle (in which she would participate in a more "active" way)?

    1. Who knows...but even if I did, saying anything would be a spoiler, and I don't do them. ;)

    2. I'd like to add to this question by asking the same about the newest addition to the party. The spoilerous one.
Also, to re-iterate my comment on the previous week's entry; how 'safe' is she in regards of belonging to Devon only?

      Delete
    3. The spoilerous one is specifically made to be a "clean slate", who she is and what she'll become will be up to the player and I want to treat the character with respect considering who he/she/it originally was.

    4. Ah! It's too tempting. I just hope these scenes will appear as soon as possible. (ง'̀-'́)ง

By the way, have you read my suggestion about the Sex Arena mini game two posts below? It'd be really nice to know your opinion.

      Delete
    5. The sex arena would be reeeeeeally expensive to make, and take up quite a ton of the artist's time since a single illustration takes about two weeks to be completed.

So as you can imagine, the sex arena would take up months of development time and literally "cockblock" regular CG scenes from being made in the meantime. x3

      Delete
    6. Yep, I know, but maybe... one day. (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Since there's a brothel mini-game in LoQOII, I still have my hopes up for the sex arena in LoQO:O.

      Delete
    7. Or maybe if Sparrow drew all illustrations for the sex-arena (like he draws all the trading cards) it would save quite a lot of your funds.

      Just a suggestion.

    8. Yeah I watched a stream of Sparrow creating his killer croc and Harley Quinn pic, he was quick af 0_0

    9. Sparrow has approximately 10 years of experience, so it's quite natural.

  3. Well the funny thing is you haven't gotten slower, you have just gotten crowdfuned, backers feel like they own a piece of the product so they expect it done their way. The way where you work on the game 24/7 without eating sleeping or anything that isn't working and even if you are working, it's not fast enough.

  4. Oh yeah, I remember some people bringing that up a few posts ago. I didn't think it would get to you that much. I still remember the construction Crisis back in the development of episode 1 and trolls started calling this a scam. That was one of the stupidest things I'd ever seen from haters considering the facts but they were definitely more malicious. Glad to see the new ones didn't get you down in the end.

    1. Hey, the worst of the worst said my flu was fake too, just so I could buy myself another week...because simply delaying the game just a week for natural causes isn't a thing? :P

But yeah, that development time list is more for me personally than trying to prove something for anyone else, so I can see for myself there isn't any truth to their claims. ^^

    3. Now I'm curious. I know I missed a few things here and there while playing through episode II, but I didn't know you could find Eclipse. Anyone mind telling me where?

      Delete
  6. I'm 100% sure it's because of the betas and people's perception being tricked by playing in increments.
In reality it's a big content pool but because a lot of people already played it bit by bit it is falsely perceived as being slower/less content even before its out of the gate! It's the double edged sword of beta testing. And that's my two cents on that. O and fancy background did something with the hair right!?

    1. Yeah, you have to remember episode I ended after finding the Emperor's son and fighting Masquerade, I'm pretty sure episode II had at least as much story as the previous entry.

    2. Weeell pretty sure if people were to lose their save files they would do a 180 and say something along the lines of "Holy shit it's gonna take forever to get back where i was" thene thene see the long road ahead!

  7. You know, this negative feedback, as I've noticed, mostly comes from trolls from imageboards. But it's not even "feedback" in the normal sense of the word - it's a pure aggression and no really helpful information at all. There's a lot of different things I could tell about them but it I don't really wanna waste my time on it. They exist and they live by trolling - there's no way you can deal with it, so just ignore it. They're not the kind of people you should listen to.

I myself can easily say that you're literally one of the few adult games developers on Patreon who really deserves being paid and supported.

    1. I usually ignore them because I know they're wrong, but in this case they got under my skin and made me doubt myself...glad I could dig up information that proved them wrong, even if it's just for myself. x3

  9. I hope you can find some comfort in that the people complaining are probably a vocal minority.

It's still interesting to ask how they came to that conclusion though. May be subjective since the crowdfunding allows for much closer following of the development process. Not only for patrons either since those betas usually pop up on sharing sites eventually. (._. )

So this will be the final area of the empire, with the last mayor located, right?
I'm assuming Davon will have to leave the country eventually and we will get some regions elsewhere. I guess the land of savages and the frozen continent are the obvious choises, but we oculd also revisit same parts of the older games...

    1. It's because I have a Patreon now and earn a monthly income, so they naturally assume I haven't planned anything for the future and just let the months pass so I can collect my money without working.
They don't seem to understand the more work I put out, the more I'd likely be able to earn as more people find my work. ;P

As for where things will go, Land of Savages is going to be saved for LoQOIII, you may visit Namaria but I'm uncertain, you will however visit the Frozen Continent at some point. :3

      Delete
    2. That would be the sarcastic answer, I guess.
But I always try to see the good in people and hope they're willing to improve themselves if given the correct information. (^-^)

Is LoQOIII a working title or will you go ahead with it? Because for some reason I always get irked when the numbers behind the title don't match up with the actual installment number in game series.

How many Resident Evil games where there before RE4?
      5!

MGS III: Snake Eater is the third game in the series, right?
      Nope it's the fifth.

That could go on for a while... (._. )

Land of Savages will be interesting to see, though I assume it's somewhat unfortunaly titled, give the residence who immigrated to Kahr seem to contain lots of decent fellows...
Just wonder why their all males, with zero exception... Hm...

  12. Don't EVER bring this topic again unless u feel like doing it uself!

I'll tell u in short where do these whispers come from. IMHO, of course.
There are quite a bunch of crowdfunding projects that I was or am supporting (not that I have much to donate, but it's still money I've earned with my work). And almost each of them has a certain bunch of donators that thinks like this: "I/we paid her money, so she HAVE to produce content faster/better". They seem to not care that their donations actually cut in amount quite a lot with crowdfunding service, that their complaints drop creator motivation and morale (that sometimes affect product's quality very much), that their money ENSURE project's financial stability, that sometimes it's simply impossible to make smthing faster without affecting it's quality or consistency, and so on.
Second thing that I'd like to state - crowdfunding is something that has a TRUST in it's core, so if me or anyone else decided to donate, then we automatically agree that we approve your work and believe u will make a good and right use of our donations. It's not some kind of salary, it's money that people WILLINGLY SHARE with u so that u had financial and moral motivation to work on the game we like so much.
Personally I do not understand these people: they donated to complaint, or whine, or what? It's just stupid.

So I state this again: don't EVER even whisper to uself that u OWE us something (faster releases, more CGs, boobs' flashing or anything else) just because we donated u a certain amount of $. Do as u FEEL like, just the way it was until this tuesday update. U earned our trust with your work! )

And one more word, about LoQOs: I played them all and have a confidence to state that every further part of it has more interesting stuff in it, better quality and functional, more active and enteetaining gameplay and, of course, lusty H-content! ) So keep it up, I'll wait whatever amount of time it takes u to release LoQO:O III because I know it's smthing that worth waiting! ;)

  13. I've been following your work since like 2011 when I saw the first LoQO game posted to an H-Game site. Darn, how time flies!

I've been curious, who is the artist for the sprite work in your games? After seeing that Farah behind the glass, I must say I'm most impressed by that level of detail.

  14. hi gabe, LoQO:O is shaping up as a bigger project than its predecessors so i was wondering, is it gonna be 3 episodes long or more?
also please please include more of our dark empress in the next episode, was looking forward to worshipping her feet in this episode

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If the information in LoQO Wiki is correct, we should expect 4 LoQO:O episodes. It's 3-4 years approx-tly, taking in account Swegabe's working pace. Further projects (like LoQOIII) are mere speculations, I believe Gabe has a bunch of ideas as she proves herself to be quite creative, but I assume it's the future that cannot be planned clearly from this time point. )

About Osira: last poll revealed that 38% of voters would gladly have more opportunities to worship the Dark Empress, I believe Gabe will take these results in account. I shouldn't be too optimistic about it though, there are 3 more damsels ahead of her in the popularity ierarchy. ;)

  15. Don´t worry Gabe, I´ve had my eyes on your stuff like around eight years by now and if anything has changed, it´s the Quality (it got better ^^). We can´t expect LoQO:O to be done in the same amount of time like the first Game of the Series, so ... those who aren´t patient enough should hit the road and watch some Porn ^^

  17. No worry from my side, I think your workspeed is good.

I think some start to look at the amought of money they have paid and then think of it as when they go to steam/local gamestore and buy a game.

But that is a wrong way to look at it (from my view), you are founding a project, not just buying a game, the game is the rewards at the end of project :)

  20. Who cares? People complain when games are rushed, and they complain when they are not. It's very easy to complain as a consumer who never created a single thing in their lives.
I'd rather have a great episode ever two years as a mediocre one every year. Take your time! You're creating quality games in a time when this can't even be taken for granted from AAA publishers.

  22. Hey Gabe been following your stuff for a long time and I feel like I gotta speak my mind. *Spoilers* I really dislike Kythe getting genderswapped, he was one of my favorite characters, which says a lot considering you have some really good ones, especially since there's already so many female characters already and many could use a lot more expanding with backstory and banter. The scene where he gets changed felt really weak, the MC even mentions he could have taken the knife, I think had he died I'd feel better about him being gone but the fact he gets genderswapped feels kinda insulting, I guess for a lack of a better term. However the scene where you get to talk to him was my favorite of all 3 games, I thought it was really well done and the choice to have the MC ask him if he'd been a good master actually kinda choked me up surprisingly, it was really nice character development. I liked the whole setup with the army having dog partners who casted magic to cover the soldier's more physical abilities you had going and really liked that you could set things up to share the girls with him, I usually really dislike other male party members in porn games but was not only fine with him but thought he was a great character. I REALLY hope you retcon this and bring him back, if you're dead set on having the furry version then just have it be Beatrice's hound who rushes in and gets changed, easy fix I think and everyone would be happy. Hope you see this and consider it, keep on keeping on.

    ReplyDelete

    1. *Spoilers*
No no a thousand times over no to what he said never mind the fact how utterly stupid retcons are!
The Kythe event was a ballsy move and a nicely executed one at that.
Best thing that can follow up this event would be to make this "new" character likeable, easier said than done true but you did it with the others.
Make a likeable character and they will come and Kythie has the makings of one!

      Delete
    2. Gabe has already done a ret con, in episode one the bull betrays Osira right off the bat and takes over, yet in episode 2 hes completely loyal to her. Its not even really a ret con really more like script adjustments, I mean no offense to Gabe or anything but, the scene wasn't ballsy at all it was really bad and completely forced, even the explanation for the genderswap was weak and forced. I mean hes a 75 year old mage and scientist who just got stomped by a group of people that can kill giga lardos, how did he not die from the fight in the first place? Then he turns around and wrestles with Kythe? The magihounds are massive, like twice as big as German Shepherds, dogs who tear trained men to the ground with ease, how is this old man's arm not just snapped by Kythe instantly or why doesn't he just blast him with wind magic? Swapping Kythe for Beatrice's hound fixes things for everyone you still get the blank slate anthro character and others get to keep Kythe would also open up the way for Beatrice to join later not that, that has anything to do with things.

      Delete
    3. "the bull betrays Osira right off the bat and takes over" WTF are you on about because i have no idea where you got that from, are you talking about Vhazar?

      Delete
    4. I too never remember any bull betraying Osira.

      Delete
    5. The bull (Vhazar) never betrayed Osira. He's been loyal to her since the very beginning. I think you confused Osira with Laquadia, because it was Laquadia who Vhazar was furious at (and because it was Vhazar who got betrayed by her).

And Farsyne wasn't a weak one. He used to be Melforas' partner and if you played LoQOII you could figure out that Melforas despite his age was actually quite a powerful opponent. I'm sure Farsyne could prove himself in a battle as well.

  29. Hey there Gabe, first of I want to say that I'm usually a lurker and don't comment anything, hell, you might never read this but I feel like this is something that needs to be said: I have been around since LOQO 1 Golden Edition. It was my first ever RPG Maker game funny enough. It had me instantly hooked, seeing porn, such delicious characters, tickling just my right fetishes and all of that for free? I actually suspected for some time that the developer(aka. you) snug some sort of virus in there or something, since RPG Maker games were completely new to me XD . So I was hyped, hooked, the whole thing. Even more so when I heard you where working on a sequel. Sadly I never managed to support you financially(same on the third one, at least so far, some situations in life just suck, which makes me even more grateful for gems like your games) during that time, and yes, I may have been a little sad that there was no "harem ending" like in the original(maybe possibly hopefully we could get that in Origins again *wink wink nudge nudge*), I never would've said anything bad about it because the story, attention to detail, the work, everything was so damn amazing, I really couldn't believe that you more or less worked alone on it(artists, VAs and such aside of course, who are all amazing in themselves), and once again, for free, when surely some people would've slapped a 60$ price tag on it. And with the third one it feels like you're outdoing yourself yet again. Even more work, even more extras, even more delicious and various women to "get in touch" with, an absolutely amazing story(the cliffhanger on episode 2 had me on edge and gave me the whole spectrum of emotions at once), I honestly don't get how people could complain about having to wait for literal pieces of art which are, once again FOR FREE. And if it isn't 2018 but 2019 or 2020 or whatever, I'll wait as long as it takes to play the next great installment in a series which I really hope will get notified as one of the, if not the best porn series of all time. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all your hard work Gabe, keep doing you, keep doing what you love and never let yourself get discouraged by people who can't appreciate the work you're putting into this universe you created. And on that note, thank you very much and sorry for everyone who took the time to read through this immense wall of text ^^

  31. Jesus Fucking Christ! Gabe! FFS! Really? One advice - who ever keep talking such bullshit just tell each of them to fuck themselves with crocodiles! The game of your is wonderful, actually it has storz much more complex than quite few games of huge developers! Bah! I finished assasin creed one in exactly 11 hours, To completely finish LOQO 2 i needed over 90 fucking hours! And as i finished it i had nothing to do with my life for weeks! I was simply empty inside for i knew that i won t be able to live that great sotrz ever again!

That s as words of encouragement. Now. About Episode 2. There are few things i wanted to point out- ask. one. as soon as i finished the main soryline i begun exploring and now - after (spoiler alert) our faithul compaion got his gender reversed i walk into bar in collusia to find out that i have our crusader-friend to bang. Still, Hero aksed Kythe if he wants to has his way with her - once again gender was already reversed. Another thing - after knocking into doors of guest house where Opala and adult Farah kept living, there was still text that things between Sebastalion and Opala grew even more intesne (they were kinda out of the city tho)

and something i wanted to ask about - poison abbility of neifu compaion... i tried casting it on dozens oponents dozens of times, yet it simply never worked.... am i doing something wrong

OK. Those things above where said not to annoy you, but simply to let you know that these exist. I love your game, i love system i love the story and i fucking love you! If someone would ever offend you i would jump after those assholes into flame and water just to push them even further.
Don t let haters influence you, or i would have to slaughter them, and that s something we would rather avoid... or do we... anyway. Thank you for cheering doezens of hours of my life. I am waiting for more with open heart and raised boner. cheers.

    1. Some enemies have poison immunity. In episode one, Broncallo was the only one I noticed. In episode two, the new bosses and likely many other tough mobs are immune.

There are three levels of resistance: none, resistant, immune. For none, the effect will never miss if it's the primary effect of the ability. For immune, it will always miss. If resist, then somewhere in the middle.

  32. It is evidently not true, but you have to understand our extreme frustration at the end of an episode once we find everything. Personally, if I could enslave every programmer and hentai artist (and other relevant people) in the world to help you, I would without hesitation. The same, they think that such accusations will motivate faster production.

  33. Hey, dont let anyone get to you, everyone who EVER tried to make a game on RPG Maker knows it takes alot of time to get anything done.
You deliver quality games, honestly, how many porn games do you know that are equally good porn and good story? I dont know many.

  35. Hey Gabe, loving the new release, but I've got a question. I've asked this before, but I don't think there was ever a clear answer. Is Nipha going to be a romance option? Still annoyed about that vote being ruined by cheaters...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Okay, first of all, you don't need to justify anything to anybody. Period! If there was six months between tiny updates then maybe, but you put out a beta, what, once a month? People need to quit being so frigging greedy!

That aside, great work Gabe. And that not so little little twist with Kythe at the end? brilliant. that twist also answered for me why the hell, even alllll the way back in Episode one, Kythe had costume options when he didn't even wear clothes. I honestly thought it was a glitch. I like this option better.

Keep up the hard work Gabe.

HOWEVER what i believe would be a good addition, is a main story tracker, that allows you to know what your quests next step is. that way if let's say, you don't play the game for a two week period, you can pick up where you left off, rather than be confused to high heaven, and go to every area in the world to find where the next part of the story is

  40. I never had any complain about development time, since its pretty obvious that no matter the engine, making a game requires time if u want it to be at least average, but this game is cool in its own way even if the hentai part was totally removed, so i have only one explanation for the people complaining about time, or they have no basic knowledge or they do nothing more tham sit on their asses all day waiting for the next episode to come out..

Its impressive how many people that complain about development time have absolutely no knowledge or little to none when they put up their acusations, just a tip for those, go grab a book about its concept or stay quiet, cuz some people are poets when they can just stay with their mouths shut..

  41. Been playing all of the LoQo games, I started due to the sexy stuff, but stayed for the story. Sadly I can't donate due to financial stuff, but still. Don't listen to people who complain like this, the games are great, they evolve over time, you can see and feel them getting better from the first one to LoQo:O ep II. The only problem I have with the most recent game is that I have problem tellin "F" and "H" appart in the map. So I always read "Hellhorn Ruins" or Lake Hairlight, but not sure if thats just me.

  42. If you are reading the comments, I would like to make a suggestion for the next game. Categories for the items. And possibly making the custom menus more smooth by allowing cancellation by simply pressing a key input instead of scrolling to cancel. I will try and look up how to do it. I have played a few rpg maker games that have that.

  43. Been playing since the first game, steadily watched this one grow and for a while was helping through patreon until fiscal responsibilities took over. I honestly don't care how long you take, every game has been better than the last and I have NEVER been disappointed. I'm not going to say ignore the haters or critics, because I know that isn't always possible, but I want to thank you for making some really good games that I enjoy.

  44. All that hate because people really love your work and game Gabe. The opposite imho is even worse. Cheer up and chin up! You have created far more than anything the haters can even dream about.

  45. Don't stress your self over some idiots who don't appreciate your work! If they want faster let them make their own games. Origins is as good as the previous games and thats what is important, the rest is just jibber-jabber (quote by Charlie Sheen)
