Legend of Queen Opala: Origin - Trading Cards

Tuesday update, correctly spelled and everything!
Support me and production of the LoQO games at - Patreon

In the last poll, I asked what funding method you preferred from personal experience, with more/less or pretty much exactly 780 votes gathered!

Patreon
Won by 55%, being 434 of the votes.
Offbeatr
Second, 27% with 217 of the votes.
Other
Lost by 16%, being 129 of the votes.

So this past week, I took a comment into consideration and decided to tweak the dice game to also include a way to play for trading cards, effectively really turning them into trading cards, as you would risk to lose one from gambling or if you trade it away against another one.

How dice gambling works with trading cards, is very much like "Lier's Dice" from Red Dead Redemption, although simplified as you first select the trading card you want from the opponent, and he will select one from you, then you toss your dices and simply guess if your opponent will get a higher or a lower score, first to score in three rounds wins the card you selected from the other one!

And of course, cards you lose through gambling or trading will simply re-appear where you first found them, to make sure you'll never hit a point where you can't collect every single trading card.
So this weekend, before christmas, the next beta will hit with the complete title/reward system available, dice gambling and also trading cards added!

And I'll finish off this week by releasing a screenshot of the tweaked dice gambling, made for cards!

    1. Yup! It's one variation added to the mix, along with purchasing, trading, finding and getting them from monsters. :3

  2. Red Dead Redemption is a great game to take inspiration from. Maybe they'll make a sequel, take some inspiration from you, and have dark-skinned girls getting railed by horses?

Joking aside, the game is coming along great. Can't wait to get the next beta.

    1. Lol! Now when you mention it, there is a trophy/achievement for getting a woman...railed. ;P

  3. This keeps getting better and better. How many trading cards you've planned anyway? If this is not a secret.

PS. Next game simply must be a mod for Skyrim or something.

    1. Thanks! I think the first episode will have around...20-30 cards, maybe?

That would be quite the upgrade... x3

  4. I was wondering about gambling, poker specifically.
How is it going to work exactly? Will it be mostly scripted (card draw, how each opponent plays etc.) or will there be actual AI simulation and each game will be different? Is that even possible to do in RPG Maker?

Also, will the opponents difficulty depend on the size of their breasts? :D

    1. When I mention cards, I meant Trading Cards, the only type of gamling will be with dices. x3

    2. I know, i meant the strip-poker type of game you mentioned last week for later episodes.
I take it that its "like strip-poker" only in the stripping part? :D And not actually playing poker?

    3. I'm not entirely sure how I'd make it work, but I was thinking something along Blackjack between you and the opponent, then if it actually uses cards or if it'll be a variation using dices, we'll see. :3

  5. Okay, great idea making gambling in this game more than an alternative source of cash, but careful you don't make it frustrating.
Put a second option (or third, if the first two are play for cards and play for cash): cash for cards. The opponent puts up their cards and you just put up the equivalent price in gold and winner takes all. This way, even in the potentially ridiculous in the late game but rather possible in the beginning, your cards won't be forever lost... gold can always be farmed from some monsters.

    1. Since you always roll the dices first, you have a huge advantage when guessing.

  6. Hey Gabe I thought of a possible solution to reduce inventory clutter, is it possible to add an item storage to your purchased property? That way you can store non-usable items like illustrations,

Also very offtopic but do you use playstationtrophies? I always see someone commenting on there with the username SweGabe

    1. Sadly not, at least for now...though I don't see how that would really help inventory clutter since all useable items are listed at the top anyway. :3

And yes, that is indeed me. x3

  7. A possible alternative to returning the card to where you found it (which seems open to abuse) is that 1) The card is of course in the selection of the person who beat you, and 2) after a certain amount of time passes (step-count perhaps) the card shows up at a porn vendor.
I realize this idea would take more effort to code, so fully understand if you don't want to do it, just thought it might be a bit more immersive than what you lost simply appearing back where you found it.

    1. 1) was the original idea, but then I thought it could easily get out of hand if you keep losing...

  8. Should make it like Triple Triad from FF8 - each card has powers to make them special/unique.

Are there any Layla cards yet? :O

    1. That would be a bitch to code, and I'm not entirely sure I can figure it out yet, I may need a few more years of experience.
And sorry, no Layla cards yet...well, maybe one, depend on how you look at it and what I decide. x3

  9. Good work there^^ Will you make the card that respawns visible in the Map completion interface again? That would be pretty awesome, because its probably hard to remember where exactly you got that card later on^^
I dont have much else to comment except that it looks pretty awesome how its all coming along and I hadnt written for some posts.
    Have a nice pre-Christmas time!

    1. If you have a hard time remembering where collectibles are, I'd highly suggest this website as it lists every location http://loqo.wikispaces.com/

    2. I'm still on the fence if cards should count in the map completion interface, it might become too complicated for me to handle. ^^

  10. Yay new beta!!! And the gambling and trading cards are very cool looking. Gotta ask though, will the new beta require us to start over again? Plus will we get a bit more story? Either way it's still cool!!!!

    1. There will actually be more than I first thought on the side, but no added story to the actual main story...and no, you won't be required to start over on a brand new game. :3

  11. Hey Gabe hope this isn't spoilers for anyone but I was curious, in the most recent beta you kindof hinted at a relationship between two characters brewing, a bit of Puppy love and stolen hearts ;), and I was wondering If we will see more of that in the future. I think it would make for an interesting side story. Also congats on geting $12000 on patreon. If this keeps up I could see you getting 2000 by the end of January.

    1. Oh, I think that particular story-arch will likely have two or three ways it can go, puppy love, you get greedy, or nothing at all. x3
And thanks! I'm very happy it's working out too! :D

  12. Will the next beta just have the above mentioned additions, or will there be more? Like the first reward from Illumi, more to do at the beach, etc? And are we going to meet the royals in episode one or is that an episode two thing?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There will be some more stuff, the reward from Illumi being one of them. :)
And yes, I believe both Farah and Osira will show up before episode 1 ends, with Opala herself finally showing up very early in episode 2. ^^

  13. Probably says alot about me that whenever there's gambling in games, i always hope for an option to 1) cheat/distract to win o 2) accuse the oponent of stealing and then either killing them and taking the loot, or just stealing the loot. I really like my renegade options i guess.

  14. Have you actually played other H-Games ?
Would like to hear your thought on the Monster Girl Quest trilogy and maybe some of the characters could appear as cameos (possibly even H-scenes) in the new game ?
    Well who knows :3
Also concerning cameos, Matsumoto had one in LOQO II (sadly no scene :S )
but what about Tsunade from Naruto ? Who do you think is better (not mostly ability-whise but also sexappeal and other stuff) ?
Do you actually watch either Naruto or Bleach anymore ? :0

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I played a really old one, like back in the 90's or something. xD
But in more recent years, Princess Trainer. :3

Since scenes cost like $300-$500 to make, no, no cameo porn.
And no, I stopped watching both of them years ago, I don't like watching a story heavy series for 200+ episodes and feel like there is never a end. xD
Funny enough though, both of them have ended now.

    2. Well Bleach is still going on (well the manga at least although its going to end in about the third quarter of 2015) but Naruto has ended for sure... well with the movie which came out this month which ties the end of the manga with the epilogue from the last chapter :3
Give it a try and tell me what you think about the couples at the end of the series just gonna say one thing: I hope you're no NaruSaku fan :/
If you want some good, realtively short animes with a good story even rivaling the caliber of Death Note in terms of greatness I can only recommend you to watch "Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion" there might also be one or two ecchi scenes if you like this kind of stuff in your daily anime shows ;)

  15. Hey Swegabe, With the episode 1 game being around 1-2 months away from release and it being the holiday season maybe you could release the first beta as a tease.Just fix the bigger errors and bugs and bring the fappiness.

  17. Hey Gabe, Any chance of you or someone writing up a 100% guide for 2
I love the game but I hate scouring the internet for info on stuff I missed and this would really help me enjoy it more

    2. I know about the wiki, it just doesnt really have what I'm looking for
Like I want a guide that has the stuff in actual order of progression and such so I dont have to flip back and forth just to realize I missed stuff I cant get back without restarting, again

  19. Hey Gabe will you actually do something like a crossover between modern day world and the world of LOQO ?
You know like something among the lines of three egyptian ladies being in a modern town like NY or maybe even in Sweden ? :D

    1. It's always possible, one of the endings I had to cut from LoQOII was going to have the egyptian family be teleported through time and space into modern day. x3

  20. A late question but are the Trading Cards an actual full sized picture when you go to look at them? I see that Laquadia 1 and 2 but all juicy details have been cropped out...
